The battle of the Chefs commenced in the North East for a position in the finals for the first Maria Mallaband and Countrywide Chef Competition.  The North East is delighted to have three of our own nominated for the finals and regional judging has commenced.

Staff and residents at Barnes Court of Wycliffe Road in High Barnes are celebrating being awarded a ‘Gold’ rating by Sunderland City Council for the second year running.  

Here at Rose Lodge Care Home of Carers Way, Cobblers Lane, Newton Aycliffe DL5 4SE we are proud to have an amazing patio garden. One of our residents loved her garden at home so much her fabulous husband Kenneth wanted to replicate that at the home for us and our garden started to grow.

Field View Care Home in Blackhall opened it's doors to the community for our annual Winter Warmer event. Residents and guests enjoyed a hearty broth made from the vegetables grown by the residents and served with warm, crusty bread. 

Here at Batley Hall we have lots of activities planned for our Autumn / Winter programme, these are designed to be stimulating but above all fun.

We started November with our bonfire party where we had music and dancing, apple bobbing and lots of cake and toffee apples.

What really makes the difference at Barnes Court is a sense of fun and community which has been fostered by their Activities Co-ordinator Sue Hutchinson.

On Tuesday 1st October Julie, Activities Coordinator at Troutbeck Care Home presented Father Phillip of St Margarets Parish Church, Ilkley with a cheque for £143.50 and a box of homemade chocolate cupcakes from fundraising at events within the home. 

At Bowerfield Court one of our main goals at the moment for activities is to get our residents out into the community as much as possible. We started our Wednesday outings last Summer and we have been continuing them ever since.

The residents, relatives and staff got into the "Spirit" of Halloween when they dressed up for the day. There were witches, ghosts and ghouls a plenty.  Preparation started well before the day with all the decorations being made by residents in arts and craft classes.

The staff and residents of Willowdene Care Home of Lizards Lane, Sedgefield were tickled pink on Friday 18th October after holding their annual fundraising event to raise money for Breast Cancer Awareness month.

Cedar Court had another wonderful Sunday concert from Chika Robertson of the Music Mind Sprite Trust and her Royal Academy YAMA’s.

Residents, families and staff had a wonderful time joining in for BBC world music week.

Zoo lab visited Croft House in September. Animals included a snake, a large snail, a bearded dragon, a spider, 2 rats and a cockroach. Everyone had a fabulous afternoon and are already looking forward to their next visit.
