Moving into a care home made easy

Our care team are here to make sure that making the move is as easy as possible for you and your loved one. If you still need reassurance, here are some stories from our residents, their families and our care team.

Here at Earsdon Grange Care Home we were delighted when Violinist from Symphony Orchestra came to entertain the residents in the garden at the home. They also donated juices and water for the home so the residents could enjoy a refreshing drink whilst they played.

Starbeck Primary School children sent these wonderful handmade cards to lift our spirits and provide colourful cheer to the residents at Belmont House Care Home on High Street, Starbeck. Thank you for the lovely cards and we can't wait to see you when you are allowed to visit again.

At Astor Court we have a weekly Gentleman’s Club, we hold this on a Wednesday morning, its a lovely way of being able to interact and play games. The favourite is dominoes and we even have beer and crisps. We'd love you to join us once things return to normal.

We love taking part in activities at Astor Care Complex and really wanted to make our own rainbow for the home involving all of our residents. We decided to make a rainbow of our hand prints. It was such a lovely activity as it meant all of our residents were able to be involved.

Astor Care Complex were visited by Georgia's Giant Rainbow in May who gave us all a wave from the car park. There was lots of smiles and waves from all around the home from the residents who were delighted to receive a visit during lockdown.

We do enjoy our cheese and wine nights at Garden Hill Care Home on St Michael's Avenue in South Shields. We have so many different cheeses and crackers to chose from we never know what to try first.

Here at Garden Hill Care Home on St Michael's Avenue, South Shields we do like to get out to the coast when able and were delighted when the shielding was lifted so we could pop along to Minchella's Ice Cream parlour and watch the musicians along the gorgeous coastline of South Shields.

The Moors care home has celebrated a number of birthdays this month ,from the age of 97 to 104. The kitchen has out done themselves with the beautiful cakes all personalised to their preference.

Here at Ashfield Court one of the highlights of our day is receiving post from past residents who stay with us for respite and we were delighted to receive this card in the post in June.

It was International Picnic Day on 18th June and just because we couldn’t go out we didn’t want to miss our lovely day out, so we had a picnic at Field View with lots of lovely scones, cakes and picnic sandwiches.

Kents Hill Care Home had a surprise delivery from Costa Coffee; they brought along over 150 latte’ and Americano’s for the staff to enjoy.

With the sun shining over Abingdon Court Care Home the people living with us were keen to help with some gardening and have created beautiful flower pots.

Abingdon Court Care Home made Fathers day extra special this year with families unable to visit. We created a gentleman's club with decorations where all residents participated in a game of magnetic darts and joined in with some card games. We enjoyed nibbles and drinks such as nuts and crisps.

What a great day we had with our pop up café for our key workers. We had a good staff turnout and the weather was perfect. Overall a very good day.

Here at Willowdene Care Home on Lizards Lane in Sedgefield we were delighted to celebrate one of our resident's birthdays this week. Ruth, was delighted to have a socially distanced visit from her family and catch up and enjoy some cake with them. We hope you had a brilliant birth

At Buckingham House we have redesigned one of our courtyards to make it more sensory and dementia friendly.

Our residents love how it has evolved and it's now one of the favourite outdoor spaces.

At Buckingham House we are excited to start welcoming visits from family and friends after such a long time. We are taking things slowly and to ensure we continue to protect our residents and staff team we are hosting visits in the garden for now.

We had a very special delivery, staff from Costa Coffee visited us and dropped off some fabulous gifts for our staff team as a thank you for all of their hard work. It was such a thoughtful gesture and really made our day.

The summer sunshine has arrived early here at White Rose Lodge and what better way to enjoy it than being out in our garden which overlooks the sea.

White Rose Lodge continues to maintain close relationships and links with the community. We celebrated V.E. Day with a gift from a friend of the home. Paul comes to the home to produce music through the use of instruments with the assistance of our residents.

On Friday the 29th of April the residents enjoyed a drinks party in the garden at The Moors. We had a cocktail trolley made up with bright colours and flowers, a number of drinks were available with little umbrellas and flower garlands for all the resident's.

The residents at Willow Bank have been busy enjoying the hot weather we have had over the lockdown period, we have taken advantage of the warm weather and have done many of our activities outside including bingo, arts and crafts and plant potting with ice cream and ice loll

At Belvoir Vale we had a fantastic day for our residents. Jayne Darling came to sing to our residents and everyone enjoyed a buffet of high tea with a glass of Pimms.

This month residents at The Moors have been enjoying the sunshine outside and making the most of the good weather.

The residences have been fighting fit at the Moors , with a music and movement classes, one to one and small groups they have enjoyed taking part in all the actions and fun and joy of the music and singing using pom poms ,scarfs and bean bags and musical instruments enjoyment had by all the

To celebrate VE Day residents dressed in colours similar to the British flag and wore hats, they did games out in the garden and later had some lovely scones as a real English treat. Staff also did a minutes silence to remember those who fought for our country.

During lockdown Arts & Crafts have been a good way to keep residents busy at Parkview. They use their imagination to create wonderful pieces of art including the flower ballet girl, Easter arts and our latest dressed up paper cut outs.

We have just received this beautiful Keelham Farm Fruit Hamper from Julie Wilcocks ( our Hairdresser). It looks scrumptious.

The 1st Stapeley and 2nd Shavington Brownies suggested writing letters and drawings to cheer up our residents during our lockdown, the girls aged seven to eleven certainly brought lots of smiles.A big thank you to them and Madeleine (Brown Owl).

We have had a variety of entertainers coming to visit us here at Troutbeck, they have been adhering to social distancing and playing to our residents from a safe distance outside the home.
