Maria Mallaband Care Group: Modern Slavery Statement
Last updated: September 2025
This statement has been published on behalf of Maria Mallaband Care Group Limited (MMCG) and its respective subsidiaries, in accordance with the Modern Slavery Act 2015. It sets out the steps taken by MMCG to prevent modern slavery and human trafficking in our business and supply chains.
At MMCG we recognise and prioritise our responsibility to help protect, preserve and promote human rights, and are guided by fundamental principles of human rights, such as those in the United Nations Universal Declaration of Human Rights. We are committed to identifying and addressing modern slavery risks across our organisation and supply chain and complying in full with the provisions of the UK Modern Slavery Act 2015 (“the Act”).
The aim of this statement is to demonstrate that we follow best practice and take all reasonable steps to prevent slavery and human trafficking. We expect our employees and suppliers to comply with the legislation and report any concerns where they may have them.
Our business
We are a provider of residential care and support services and operate a number of care homes across the UK. We also acquire land and develop purpose-built care home facilities.
Our supply chains
We implement effective systems and controls to ensure slavery and human trafficking are not taking place anywhere in our supply chains and as part of our supplier onboarding process, we ask suppliers, as applicable, that they upload their own modern slavery statement. Our supply chains include property related services (construction and maintenance), procurement of temporary/agency staff, facilities maintenance, utilities, and waste management.
Our employees and third-party workers
We operate a robust recruitment policy, including conducting eligibility to work in the UK checks for all directly employed colleagues, bank workers, volunteers, contractors, and consultancy services, to provide assurance that pre-employment clearance has been obtained, to safeguard against human trafficking or individuals being forced to work against their will.
Our policies on slavery and human trafficking
Modern slavery encompasses slavery, servitude, human trafficking and forced labour. We have a zero tolerance approach to slavery and human trafficking and are committed to ensuring that there is no modern slavery or human trafficking in our supply chains or in any part of our business. Our Modern Slavery Policy reflects our commitment to acting ethically and with integrity in all our business relationships and to implementing effective systems and controls to ensure slavery and human trafficking is not taking place anywhere in our supply chains. In addition, we continue to review other relevant policies as we are aware of the need to identify and report modern slavery and human trafficking in our business and supply chains.
Risk Assessments
We have and will continue to take further steps to combat slavery and human trafficking. This includes reviewing our standard terms and conditions with suppliers to ensure that the organisations we contract with have the same commitment to eradicating modern slavery and human trafficking as we do. We also obtain information from our suppliers of staff to determine the risk profile for their organisation and the staff they source and provide to us.
Training
We have introduced compulsory training on Modern Slavery across the board, to ensure our staff teams are able to comply with our Modern Slavery Policy. We continue to review and update our Company policies as needed to ensure continual compliance.
Raising a concern
If you believe or suspect that a breach of this policy has occurred or that it may occur, you must report it through [email protected], where your concerns will be internally escalated. We will support anyone who raises genuine concerns in good faith, even if they turn out to be mistaken. Alternatively, you can call the modern slavery helpline on 0800 0121 700 and talk through your concerns or visit www.modernslavery.co.uk which provides more information on the types of slavery, the signs to spot and the appropriate referral processes for victims.
Leadership Approval
This statement is made in accordance with section 54(1) of the Modern Slavery Act 2015 and constitutes our slavery and human trafficking statement for the financial year commencing 1 October 2025 and ending 30 September 2026. It was approved by the board in September 2025.
