The people living with us had a great time celebrating 'world emoji day' and making some great emojis and even creating their own new ones.

We had a visit from our lovely singer Alan turner, Alan was in the XFactor and even went to Simon Cowells house in  Barbados in 2008. It is a great pleasure to have him visit us regularly and we all look forward to him coming.

At our Gardening Club this week , we decided to do some weeding and put some new plants in.  The people living with us wanted more colour in the garden and so today we did just that.

Some of the people living with us at Brunel enjoyed a flower arranging session recently. As well as buying some really colourful pretty flowers for the activity, we also picked some from our own gardens .

We celebrated International Cheese and Wine Day at Monread with a selection of our favourite wines, paired with the perfect combination of cheese and grapes - it went down a treat with the people living with us and proved to be a delicious afternoon.

Pippa the PAT dog joined the team at Hope Green and was welcomed by everyone including our manager who was delighted to get involved. Pippa's owner has a wealth of knowledge about dogs too so residents were very keen to ask lots of questions and find out all about Pippa, who is now 10years old.

We had a fantastic entertainer in to Buckingham House who got all the people living with us singing along with him.  He sang a great range of songs for us all that even got some people dancing, it was a great afternoon.

We were delighted to welcome Molly from The Alzheimer's Society Research to collect a cheque from everyone at The Hawthorns.  We raised £400 from an Easter Raffle and a Spring Fate that we held recently.

The people living at the home love to do some flower arranging so we decided to get some flowers. There was a good turn out for this activity and it brightened our lovely home with lovely smell and colour.

For National Cheese Day we had another cheese and wine evening, it was enjoyed so much last time we had even more residents choose to join us for this one.  We think that we might have to do this again soon.

We had the wonderful Deborah from musical delights visit us earlier this month.

There was a party atmosphere with lots of dancing, arm waving and clapping along.

National Scotch Day was celebrated with pub crawl and scotch tasting! We set up our own bar and had residents taste test the scotch and see what flavours they found. We also enjoyed some pub snacks and other refreshments.

The people living with us got involved with making lavender bags today. The lavender was stripped from one of our own plants, then square pieces of material were sewn together and filled with lavender. To finish we added a nice piece of ribbon to make the bags look more decorative.

The home was visited again this week by the ice cream man! Which was a lovely way to cool down in the heat. Residents enjoyed coming outside to pick what they wanted and listen to the music.

Although it was a bit drizzly outside our Summer Sing and Smile still went ahead as we moved indoors. Residents’ families joined us for an afternoon of live music, as we all sang and danced to our favourite songs. A wonderful afternoon full of joy and smiles.

Earlier in the month Birch Heath Lodge held their summer community BBQ, here are a few highlights of the event.

Donning our sun hats we took a visit to the garden to check on the plants and give them some much needed water, tidying up plant pots as we went. Afterwards, the residents took a well earned rest in the shade, chatting and enjoying the garden.

Natalie Smith celebrated her 10 years of service at Alexandra Court. Natalie's dedication to the residents, families and colleagues has no bounds, she’s a true GEM and an asset to MMCG . We cant wait to have a slice of the celebration chocolate cake!
