Our stories

This week the staff and residents at Birch Heath Lodge enjoyed some entertainment. It was fantastic to see everyone together enjoying the show.

We made some fruit pizza using melon for the base and fruit and white chocolate for the toppings. All had lots of fun making them and found them very refreshing to eat in the heat.

The team at Hope Green enjoyed small gifts of appreciation as part of our Thankful Thursday and it was a lovely way to stop for just a moment and recognise the continued hard work and dedication they give.

John celebrated his 90th birthday today.

Family joined in the fun sharing cake ,cards and best wishes.

Everyone got involved to celebrate ‘National Bow Tie Day’ at Gateford Hill, dressing up with bow-ties of all different shapes and sizes and making bow-tie shaped biscuits for everyone to enjoy with their afternoon tea. 

During the hot weather we like to think of creative ways to keep the people that live with us cool so we made a smoothie station this was enjoyed by all 

People living with us picked out an animal that they wanted to paint, each animal had pieces that needed to be painted separately.  Once the paint was dry , we then had to fix them together to make up our animals.

A trip to our local pub provided the perfect setting for a gorgeous summertime pub lunch. A few of our residents had said how they fancied a trip to the pub, so we took the minibus and did just that.

We all enjoyed delicious food and drink and had a fantastic time together!

Congratulation to our Deputy Manager, Hilary Hasson who was recently presented with her trophy by Home Manager, Michelle Wray, after winning the prestigious Deputy Manager of the Year award at the annual Maria Mallaband Care Awards last month.

Residents enjoyed a great visit to the local Petting Farm and even fed some of the animals. It was lovely to spend some time out in the local community, appreciating the animals and getting 'up close' to them.

On the first days of the month, the residents throw a tea party to welcome their newest doll residents.

During this tea party the dolls were named and given birth dates chosen and agreed by all the residents.

Cream teas were served from our very own bakery at the new Hope Green Cafe and residents absolutely loved spending time there with their relatives. Alongside the traditional teas and coffees, sparkling lemon and mint drinks were popular as the temperatures soared and the sun shone.

A bit of physical activity took place today having had reserved energy through out the heat wave. Tennis being the sport of choice, whether mobile or seated our lovely residents appeared to enjoy a match.

We would all like to say a huge welcome to Simona, our new nurse completed her probation today. Another successful addition to Kingsbury team.

A warm welcome to Lloyd Wint our new activities manager who is doing a great job here at Furze Hill Lodge.

This morning our residents made fat balls with bird seed and nuts and mixed it up with lard to make bird feeders for our gardens. Later we took the fat balls outside to put in the bird feeders.

Every Wednesday we have our happy hour where there is a choice of alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks offered to all of our residents.  
 

The people living at Brunel wanted to have a wine and cheese tasting evening.  The lifestyle team were only too happy to create a platters with a range of cheeses from Mild cheddar to the stronger cheeses like Stilton.

As we have an adverse weather warning the heat is getting to many of us, however we remain positive and continue to smile. Keep a thought to the people working in heat.
