Moving into a care home made easy

Our care team are here to make sure that making the move is as easy as possible for you and your loved one. If you still need reassurance, here are some stories from our residents, their families and our care team.

The Cranleigh Carnival managed by The Lions Club, was as an enormous success within our local community. It was a pleasure to have the opportunity to display our lovely home, together with arts and crafts, prepared by our residents to raise money for Alzheimer’s.

We were so thrilled to be joined by our mayor to celebrate the Queens Jubilee at the home. We had some music, refreshments and cake. The Mayor spent sometime with the people living at the home which they really enjoyed.

We had a fantastic party in our gardens to mark the Queens Jubilee. The BBQ was going, the union jack flying and lots of cake for everyone to enjoy. We also planted a tree in her Majesty's honour for all to enjoy which has a beautiful plaque next to it.

We really enjoy celebrating our amazing team at Chestnut Court and this month we had a joint winner. We wanted to highlight the amazing work that the lifestyle team do at the home organising events, games, activities and spending time with the people who live with us.

Karaoke is always fun and here at Birch Heath Lodge it is a hugely popular activity. Elvis Presley is a fan favourite and as you can see always creates moments of magic.

Jean celebrated her 90th Birthday today last week. She spent the afternoon in the decking area with her daughter Lesley and a few close friends.

Lots of laughter and birthday singing filled the air.

Hope Green's Pop Up Ice Cream Parlour returned this week to the surprise and delight of residents, as the sun shone and Summer arrived. A choice of flavours and toppings made for a lovely treat and there were plenty of smiles all round.

What a lovely morning we had together tasting a selection of chocolate from our very own sweet shop. It was great to choose our favourites and try new flavours too, looking through our reminiscence books filled with pictures and chatting about visits to sweet shops with families.

For Many Of Us It Is Our Favourite Activity.

Our residents really enjoyed our first session of flower arranging, this is why we planned to do it again. This time, the flowers we used are freshly picked from our garden and some are donated from our neighbours. Our residents loved it and look how they enjoyed doing it.

World Smoothie Day went down a treat on this beautiful summers day.

Peach Melba, Berry Frenzy, Supreme Greens and Super Breakfast Shake was all well received.

Ice cold nutrition and hydration seemed to be the colourful tasty topic of the day. YUMMY !!!

Our residents enjoyed the stylings of Antony Lye to celebrate Father’s Day. His keyboard skills were great and everyone enjoyed singing along. Factoring in the beautiful sunshine we enjoyed a wonderful day.

Jimmy James cannot contain his excitement when we gave him the news that we are setting up a netball tournament. He was the first to open and helped us with the assembly and all!

We are all grateful to our dear carers working in Amber Court. But this day we took part to celebrate their hard work and care that they put to our residents. We created a mini party for them and gave them treats they deserved.

Julie and Karen, the Lifestyle team at Belmont House were awarded the Regional Hero Award for June 2022. Julie and Karen go above and beyond to ensure residents at Belmont House live happy and enriched lives and they have transformed the lifestyle offering within the home.

We enjoyed Sunday Sundae on bank holiday weekend. A little bit of loveliness in each glass, ice cream always goes down a treat here at Troutbeck and a taste of summer we just cant wait to sit outdoors.

This afternoon we did exercises with pompoms which everyone said they really liked. The pom poms are light to hold and easy to move and also lots of fun. We were having so much fun that we forgot we were exercising!

We wanted to celebrate the men at Water Royd on Fathers Day. Our lovely gents were given gifts from us all to celebrate the day. They received a lovely gift bag with some goodies inside which really made them smile.

The people living at our home really enjoyed volleyball in the lounge. We set up the lounge with the net in the middle and had two teams either side. Working as a team they had to get the ball over the net to score a point.

We really appreciate our team of carers at Woodlands and wanted to take a little time to thank them for all their hard work. We had some lovely food, cakes and gifts in the garden.

International Carers Day

We got in our minibus with some of the people living with us and headed out to the seaside. It was so lovely to get to see the beach at Exmouth and see the RNLI boat. We of course finished the day with a lovely ice-cream.

We have had such a blast today celebrating the Queens Jubilee in style! We cleared the car park to make way for a huge gazebo, where we enjoyed entertainment from Sing Along with Ellie and Tickled Pink Productions. This was enjoyed with food from the BBQ, cake, and plenty of Pimms!

We hosted an afternoon tea party to celebrate the gentleman in the home who have been fathers or that father like figure in people lives. It was a really lovely afternoon.

We had a great time playing Target Throwing in our lovely garden. We had a little tournament going and everyone was very competitive with one another. They also had a lot of laughs but did get better with more practise and someone even got the bullseye!

In the build up to the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee, we have had many discussions around the monarchy and what it means to those that live here. Many expressed that they had never met the Queen, but would have loved to if given the chance, which got us thinking…

On Wednesday 15th June we celebrated Nature Photography Day! We are blessed with a beautiful garden here at Abingdon Court, with encourages a lot of interest and biodiversity - so we took this opportunity to catch some photographs of some of the beautiful scenery.

️On the anniversary of the release of the classic musical GREASE, it felt correct to host our own singalong to the classic tunes - many of those that live here expressed that they are huge fans of the film, so we had great fun performing together and singing our hearts out!

Taking the time to speak to the people who live with us at Belvoir Care Home is really important to us. We like to discuss the activities that are being provided in the home to ensure that the activities and trips that are enjoyed by all.

With Royal Ascot taking place, we brought the racecourse experience to Abingdon Court! Those that live with us had great fun donning their own hats and fascinators to get into the spirit of things.

This week is picnic week so we opted for a Spanish tapas afternoon in the wonderful sunshine. We listened to Spanish guitar and worked on our tans while we enjoyed some yummy tapas favourites.

Gentleman's Club turned into a bit of a party this week.

Once the ladies saw the hats come out so did they.

Dominos, Music, Snacks and Cards went down well on activity with a bit of a boogie to end the afternoon. Fun time had by all.

Everyone living at Wyndham Hall joined together to show their appreciation for the amazing work that our carers do on a daily basis, as they celebrated this year’s MMCG Carers Appreciation Day.

In this weather who doesnt like to dine outside so we gave the people living with us the option of dining alfresco today.
It was very popular as we served their usual fish and chips outdoors with a few extra salads to choose from. Pudding was of course ice cream!

We have an amazing tree at Buckingham house, its our Genies Wishes Tree.

Some of the people living with us wanted to get outside and enjoy the lovely weather. So before it got too warm we popped out and had some fun playing dominoes in the garden.

Wow, what a fun day we had celebrating Royal Ascot. We started the day with a staff race on the horses we had made which was so entertaining for people to watch.
We then enjoyed some lovely snacks of popcorn and marshmallow bars a delicious treat and loved buy all.

One of our lovely carers Ange who has been with us for 7 years, hand stitched this wonderful picture to hang on our walls to celebrate the Queens 70th Jubilee. We are all so grateful to Ange for taking the time to create this for Belvoir Vale.

Every Monday morning we have a gentleman called Sam who comes to our home to do some chair exercises with the people living with us. This is a massive hit with all ladies and gents of all abilities.

This week we have enjoyed a trip to our local fruit farm where we did some strawberry picking. Some off us we hadn’t done this since we were a child, so it brought back some lovely memories. It was such a nice morning and we had a great time collecting strawberries.

The benefits of pets as therapy and animal visits in care homes are well known, so here at Pinewood we decided to support our local sanctuary - Finni's Ark and had a visit from Jethro and Sweets, their adorable little ponies.

Some of the gentlemen living with us wanted to venture to our local pub. We were happy to bring them to enjoy a pub afternoon. They had a great time watching the horse races and golf on tv.

Yesterday afternoon the people living with us enjoyed live entertainment outside in the sun. We put the gazebo up so they could relax and be nice and cool in the warm weather we are having this week.

When the sun is shining, our favourite place to be is in the garden here at Kings Court, enjoying our large beautiful garden.

Add a little bit of relaxing music, some cold ice cream and it really is the perfect afternoon in Swindon.

As part of the celebration of Queen’s Platinum Jubilee, we decided to give a little present for the relatives who came and celebrated with us. They are very grateful to received potted flowers from Abbey View.
