Moving into a care home made easy

Our care team are here to make sure that making the move is as easy as possible for you and your loved one. If you still need reassurance, here are some stories from our residents, their families and our care team.

We had a very special visitor came to celebrate with us. One of our staff decided to surprise our residents and visitors. She dressed like the Queen, put a Queen mask, wore quirky fascinators' hat and she even bring one of Queen’s dogs with her (Stuffed toy).

We prepared a lot of artworks and activities for our residents throughout the celebration of Queen’s Jubilee. These are handmade printed buntings, recycled jubilee jars, "Queen/King for a day" necklaces and Jubilee colouring books.

One of our resident’s daughter donated these lovely crafts that she made specially for the Queen’s Jubilee. Look how lovely they are! We hanged the bunting in the front door to welcome everyone coming to the home and the Queen’s miniature is displayed in the reception area.

We celebrated the Jubilee in Abbey View last 3rd of June, 2022. All the resident's families are invited and they are very excited to join our tea party. Delicious foods are prepared by our kitchen chef.

What a wonderful time we had at Allingham House celebrating Queen's Elizabeth Platinum Jubilee.

For this weeks craft club we marked World Ocean Day through colouring wonderful sea creatures and creating colourful jellyfish while watching and listening to the wonderful sights and sounds of an aquarium.

Celebrating the people working with us is so important. To mark Carers Week at Cedar Court we had a surprise care appreciation week. Throughout the week we had breakfast for all our team members and also a BBQ with everyone one afternoon.

We took some of the people living with us on the mini bus to Eaton. We went to Bating Lake, the fish pond and then over to the cafe for some refreshments. After we decided to have a walk all around the park where one of the residents saw a herring, which was fascinating to watch.

We decided to play games in the garden because it was such a lovely warm day. I started with one resident and ended with lots of people because we were having so much fun. It is a very simple activity with a parachute and a very soft ball which we were all trying not to drop.

We had a lovely visit from ”Tiny Farm” and we were absolutely thrilled to be able to spend an afternoon cuddling our new furry friends. We cannot wait to invite them again for some more pet therapy.

Celebrating special moments with the people who live with us is so important. The lovely couple below celebrated their 56th wedding anniversary, they dined in the restaurant for lunch and had a little trip down memory lane and received some chocolates from the whole team.

We were only too happy when asked, to organise a birthday party for someone living at the home to celebrate in the garden. It was such a pleasure to be able to decorate a space and provide some refreshments for such a special day.

Earlier this week our residents enjoyed going to the church for lunch where they celebrated with the community the Queen’s jubilee. Food was 5/5 and they can’t wait to go back!

The people living at Gateford Hill found the children from a local pre school to be so uplifting on their recent visit. It triggered so many lovely memories of when their children were little.

Sharon and the Elstead Committee who organised the local Jubilee Party extended an invitation to the people who are living at Bridge House Care Home. We were delighted to be invited to the local party to celebrate with people living in the area.

VE Day preparations were underway at Hope Greens Craft Club where residents were making red white and blue hanging basket arrangements, craft jars, and displays around the home.

Hope Green are a great team and this week the manager initiated a Bacon Butty Friday morning for all staff to enjoy. To add to this there was a delivery of gifts too which will be handed out over the following days to staff members as an appreciation of all their continued hard work.

Yesterday our lovely residents fancied a spot of baking.

Making shortbread shapes seemed to be the popular choice with the best bit being making dough balls and rolling ,I am sure you can imagine the fun in the flour clouds!

To Celebrate HMs Platinum Jubilee Birch Heath Lodge held a party in appreciation of the Queen. Families were invited to the event and the day was eagerly anticipated by everyone. The Party commenced with George Croiala who entertained us with his piano.

After weeks spent designing, colouring, painting and sticking together our home made decorations we were able to display them all with great pride at our garden party.

As everyone was busy celebrating the Queens Platinum Jubilee over the bank holiday weekend, River View waited until Tuesday 7th so more of our family members were able to join in the celebrations with everyone living here.

We were excited to have a vintage car visit! It was a beautiful car and some even went for a quick spin in the sunshine. Alongside our other activities it was a very full day.

We had a brilliant day with our residents celebrating The Queens Jubilee. Everyone loved our outdoor party with our buffet, entertainment, refreshments and a tombola. We also had a visit from our mayoress.

As the season goes warmer each day, we took the opportunity to have our residents spend at least an hour a day outside. This day, Geoffrey, Roy and Margaret took time to savour the warmth of the sun and fresh air filled their body. It was indeed a good sunny day

Hope Green celebrated in style together surrounded by red white and blue for a special Jubilee afternoon. What a wonderful and joyful time we had! Music playing gently in the background, fresh flowers on the tables picked from our beautiful gardens and our very best tea sets.

Pup day is our most popular activity, who could resist our sweet pups Tia, and Rocky. Nothing fills our hearts like those smiles of joy we see when our residents get to hold, pet and love our sweet four legged volunteers.

Jubilee Saturday was a beautiful day and we had a family and friends BBQ. Our home was hopping with visitors and yummy food. We had burgers, sausages, chicken with all of the fixings and an amazing dessert buffet.

Our residents commemorated the jubilee by painting some lovely rocks for a surround for our “plant a tree for the Jubilee” lilac. We watched the Thanksgiving service and the original coronation. Our residents also enjoyed a concert in honour of the queen.

Our quiz afternoon started with true or false, the residents loved it and wanted to play again.

We also played a quiz with different facts.

One of our residents celebrated her 100th birthday this week.

We decorated our reception area with a lot of buntings. Also, we made a memory tree for the queen which consists of photos of the queen throughout Her reign. This tree was built with the help of our residents and staff.

Amber Court is honoured to be part of this spectacular celebration for the Queen. As part of the celebration, we planted a tree to commemorate our Queen’s 70 years in the throne.

Our residents played a few matches of dominoes against each other, it was a very competitive game for our residents.

On the 1st of June as part of International Milk Day, our residents tasted different flavours and types of milk.

We also played a game, to try to guess the flavour of the milk .

This week we were delighted to receive a visit from Natalya, who is a local Body Shop Consultant trained to provide hand/arm massages. It was wonderful to see residents being pampered with sensory sessions - a real delight to the senses!

Hope Green Links With The Local Community

The people living with us really enjoy the ‘Sing & Smile’ event we hosted this afternoon. We do this every week and we even have relatives who come in each week to join in the fun! I just love to see the happy, smiling faces.

What a spectacular day we had Friday 3rd June for the Queen's Platinum Jubilee. The rain held off, the sun was shining and the people living with us had an opportunity to celebrate with their loved ones.

To celebrate the Queen's Jubilee we hosted a "Royal Afternoon Tea". More than 100 guests attending our afternoon and we are very thankful for all the lovely comments from our Residents, their relatives and all other guests that attended our event.

We celebrated our Queen's Jubilee by hosting our very own Water Royd garden party. The event was supported by lots of people who wanted celebrate with their loved ones. We had a 5-piece band perform for us, everyone enjoyed a good old singalong and boogie with the band.

We started the Jubilee Celebrations in Cedar Court by creating crowns in our arts and craft activity and putting together a memory board of the Queen, along with our residents very fond memories. This was guarded by our Royal Guard in honour of special guest, Queen Elizabeth II

What a wonderful weekend we had.

Resident and our staff enjoy music and we organised a Royal Tea Party and enjoyed a variety of delicious cakes and scones.

Jubilee Day preparation was in full swing at The Hawthorns as we decorated cup cakes for our Jubilee Party. This took lots of concentration which made the room silent and took some time to do but everyone loved it. They looked and tasted so good.

The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee was celebrated in splendour and style at Knights Court Nursing Home with a royal garden party.

Brunel House celebrated the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee House with a garden party. Not only did the weather stay dry for our special event, but it was such a joy to celebrate with families and friends of the people living with us.
