What a fab day to end the week we have had at Bowerfield House, we have all not stopped laughing and smiling all day. We have celebrated St George's Day and Geoffrey and Eileen's 61st wedding anniversary, they enjoyed a lovely lunch together.

The Westbourne residents and staff celebrated HRH Prince Philip's life with a royal afternoon tea, and watched the service of the funeral. The lounge was decorated with bunting, pictures of Prince Philip and the Royal family.

All the Highfield family sent our warmest wishes to Queen Elizabeth II for her 95th birthday!

Today at Manorhey we had a very special themed day. We took a trip to the wild west where we enjoyed activities in the morning followed by a decadent lunch and a western movie in the afternoon with popcorn and drinks.

Well done to Lewis Watson, an IT engineer with Maria Mallaband in Leeds, who ran 100 miles over 28 days in February to raise money for St Gemma’s Hospice after they cared for his grandad at home during the final weeks of his life.

Our resident enjoyed a sunny afternoon creating their very own personalised flower displays in the main lounge, using a variety of beautiful flowers. Flower arranging activities are very popular amongst the residents here.

We are passionate about providing the highest standards of care for people living in our homes.

Building a team of people who are both confident and competent in their work is a crucial element for achieving this, which is why we chose to embrace the TNA programme.

The residents joined to the celebrations of National Tea Day enjoying a traditional afternoon tea. Everyone got involved.

When the sun is out some of our residents have enjoyed lunch al fresco. Others preferred to eat inside but ventured outside for a stroll after lunch instead. 

Easter bonnets, karaoke and fun on Easter Day. All residents received either an Easter egg or an Easter gift and an Easter greetings card. 

Theresa was overjoyed at the numerous cards, flowers and gifts she received from family and friends which made her birthday so special.  The beautiful ombre birthday cake made by our very talented Head Chef Sam was just the icing on the cake, so to speak, as the celebrations lasted all day.&

What a beautiful week we have had at Bowerfield House, it was so nice to get outside for some much needed fresh air, it's the best medicine around. We enjoyed an ice lolly, beverage's and chatting to each other as a group. We had a few games of bowels and we all enjoyed each other's company.

The Big Challenge was completed with miles left to spare at Kents Hill Care Home last week.  

The residents, staff, relatives and local community all came together to reach the target of 786miles for Alzheimer's Research.  

Today we enjoyed some fresh berries and talked about fond memories of picking berries when they were younger. They talked about sneakily eating berries when they were meant to collect a whole basket full, and what they made with the berries once they were picked.

The residents have loved being able to get out in the garden with the lovely weather lately. One resident in particular has thoroughly enjoyed helping the staff with planting new flowers and placement of the planters. It's so good to see the residents outside enjoying the garden. 

We celebrated Scrabble Day last Tuesday. Alfred Mosher Butts, inventor of Scrabble was born on 13th April, so what better excuse to remember him and this iconic board game than to hold a Scrabble competition.
