Our stories

To celebrate National Textiles Day the residents added their own designs to a new blanket. The residents tried to thread the needle independently, sometimes needed a little assistance. They then began to move the needle through the weaves of wool and started up their own design.

Today we built and decorated bird feeders to hang in the garden. We enjoyed using paints and getting messy and we can't wait to see the birds eating from the feeders! 

Our residents at The Westbourne enjoyed themselves by decorating wooden bird houses with a selection of paints for them to choose from. As they painted, they talked about the colours, using associations such as yellow reminding them of the sunshine.

Congratulations to Sam and Lauren. Sam was nominated for his leadership and overall level of expertise on the care floor. Lauren was nominated for behind the scenes, ensuring payroll, staffing and the home run's smoothly. Well deserved. 

This afternoon we played prize bingo in the Plaza. This was an activity enjoyed by all. 

Eileen was a big help, laminating pictures they had coloured to make placemats for St George's Day. We had a lovely day where everyone enjoyed taking part in a quiz and we had a fish and chip lunch from the local chip shop. 

What a great start in my new role as activities coordinator at Bowerfield House. I was over the moon to be a joint winner with our sister home Bowerfield Court for Regional Easter Competition joint category winner Best Activity 2021.

We may not be part of the EU anymore but our residents still enjoyed European Day. This morning we looked at different countries in Europe and what they are famous for, residents talked about the places they visited in Europe.

The Easter Bunny made an appearance at Kings Manor over the weekend, he brought all the people living at the home a lovely Easter Egg and much joy as he hopped around. The team at Kings Manor also got involved by dressing up, using hair chalks, and even used their vocals on the karaoke machine.

We had a great St George's Day here at Clarendon, residents inside and outside the garden were reminiscing with music and songs. We had some great vocals with the mic from some of our residents.

Walking down the corridor in the afternoon, it's no surprise to stumble across the "ITV Quizzing Hour", with the echoing of the voices of the likes of Bradley Walsh and Ben Shepard coming from people's rooms as they prove popular with lots of people who live here at Abingdon Court.

At Bowerfield House we have 2 winners who won the St George's Day quiz, Jeff and Ellie, well done on your win! They didn't use google to cheat, but did get help from a few residents, they won a pair of socks each.

Congratulations to Michael Craig who celebrated 25 years as chef at Birch Heath Lodge. With a massive thank you from the Birch Heath team and MMCG for 25 years fantastic service, we look forward to the next 25.

Everyone at Bowerfield Court had a good old knees up for St George's Day. We enjoyed donning our hats and glasses, waving our flags and dancing to the music at our themed concert. Afterwards we enjoyed a fabulous buffet. 

Dear Danielle and the team at Carmel Lodge, I wanted to thank you for all the wonderful care you gave to my dad during the almost 12 months he spent with you. Dad always told me he was well looked after and that I was not to worry about home.

For Earth Day the Norwich market came to The Hawthorns, starting with a virtual tour followed by touching and smelling of its local and organic produce. Residents then made suggestions as to what could be cooked with the ingredients and talked about meals they used to make.

We held a games afternoon here at Belmont, wine, sherry and hot beverages were served. Residents said how much they enjoyed the variety of games to choose from.
