Moving into a care home made easy

Our care team are here to make sure that making the move is as easy as possible for you and your loved one. If you still need reassurance, here are some stories from our residents, their families and our care team.

There was so much laughter yesterday morning at Hope Green as residents and staff gathered together to decorate cupcakes and even some waffles too! Buttercream, chocolate buttons and sprinkles were an absolute success on a dull autumn morning and perfect with our morning tea and coffee at 11am.

There was a word game challenge at The Hawthorns recently where residents took part in a variety of word games. At first there was the word wheel, once the word wheel landed on a letter they had to find as many words as they could including the letter.

We up cycled some photo frames today using jigsaw pieces. The residents absolutely loved this idea and said they were good enough to sell!

Bowerfield House had a fantastic week, we celebrated Hot Dog Day and Carols 77th birthday. Me and Ron also enjoyed a trip down to the pub, he enjoyed his pint and a lovely chat.

Betty recently celebrated her birthday in style with a virtual trip to Hawaii. It was fantastic party with dancing, traditional Hawaiian costumes and a Hawaiian themed buffet.

Keen to enjoy the lovely September sunshine we decided to hold a balloon race in the garden. There was a lot of laughter as we cheered the competitors on. As always, our chef and their team produced a fantastic buffet.

Thank you to a residents daughter who brought us a thank you card and Betty's Biscuits. We really appreciate the kind gesture.

It was smiles all round this Friday at Hope Green as we put a special order in to the local Fish & Chip shop for our lunch. You just can't beat it! Comments included 'good chippy food doesn't get better than this' & 'what a treat'.

We had an enjoyable day in the sunshine, we took Mabel, Wilna, and Owen for a lovley stroll around the gardens at the Thornton Theatre. There were lots of beautiful flowers, we really enjoyed the fresh air and all the residents enjoyed their afternoon.

For National Teddy Bear Day, as a home we decided to donate three brand new teddy bears to a local children's hospital. Before we could do this, we needed to give these wonderful bears a name!

Bowerfield House enjoyed a pampering day this week, hair, nails polished and hand massages while listening to some spa relaxation music, we all need me time now and then. All residents felt relaxed and chilled out.

Today we celebrated ancillary day with our team at Ashfield Court . A lovely cake and fun afternoon for staff and our residents, plus a gift from MMCG.

We had a huge celebration here at Clarendon Court, our resident Florence Hynes was 100 years old. Florence had a celebration outside on the patio with family and friends with lots of cake and a buffet. A very special day for a very special lady.

MMCG will shortly be rolling out its Lifestyle Programme across the group, the overarching goal of which is to provide flexible, personalised lifestyle opportunities to meet the needs of the mind, body, and soul of every individual in our homes.

We are delighted to confirm that we are developing nine new care homes as part of our ambitious new build programme that’s already well underway. The current pipeline extends over the next three to four years with several homes in planning and development phases.

Recently we saw our latest home, Windsor Court, finally opening its doors in July! After months of hard work and £8 million of construction, we were finally able to welcome visitors, guests and those who have chosen to move in with us.

This month we have also been celebrating the success of Jo Stokes, a member of our Support Team and a Trainee Nursing Associate, who has been selected to become an Ambassador for Health Education England!

We’re delighted to share that Kier Dungo, Regional Director at MMCG, has successfully completed his first 2 modules for Global Leadership & Management, gaining some of the highest grades in his cohort.

For the first time, we introduced the inaugural MMCG Carers Appreciation Day, for which we celebrated all of our amazing carers that play a vital role in ensuring each of our homes is a warm and welcoming place to live in.

One of the heartwarming stories of this year at MMCG was the amazing friendship between schoolboy Harry Evans and Howgate House member George Spiby, 65.

One of our more artistic nurses, Lynn Bell, gave her colleagues a superhero-style boost by depicting them all in an amazing ‘caped-crusader’ gallery inspired by the collective spirit and superhuman effort seen from the team throughout the pandemic.

Our Cowboy Party at Allingham House was a brilliant day for both staff and residents. The barbecue was great and the kitchen staff were amazing!! Staff and residents enjoyed, burgers, sausages and salad, drinks were also provided.

The residents were delighted to do the lavender harvesting in the garden, while they were sharing happy memories and reminiscing. They enjoyed the smell, the colour, and the the tactile of the plants, a completely sensory stimulation experience!

What a great time we had at Hope Green putting together Memory Boxes. As we spent time exploring things that were important to us, memories came flooding into our minds and conversations flowed too.

As the summer draws to a close at Hope Green we decided to spend some time watching and listening in the garden.

In our art class we have residents who really excel, Joseph wanted to continue the jungle theme and came up with this elephant and tiger, which we all agree, he did an excellent job. Now thinking of his next subject, watch this space.

Our bank holiday theme was a French Fun Day, we had games and music dressing up for the part, and lots of cheese, wine and french fancy cakes.

Our talented staff and residents put efforts on our upcoming event even our coconut trees backdrop was handmade. Look how busy they are! And how fantastic our backdrop is!

One of our residents, alongside the activity staff, has made a memory box. In the memory box contained items that Oliver felt was personal to him but also things that gave us an insight to Oliver's life and past.

Our ladies enjoyed having their nails done and choosing their favourite colour shades.

Pamper Time at Ashfield Court

Carnival Day at Ashmead proved to be a most enjoyable and colourful day for everyone at Ashmead.

The recipe books were out at Ashmead recently during a cake baking session when the people living at Ashmead joined the Activities team in baking cakes. All hygienic measures were practised and the past and present culinary skills of the residents concerned were clearly highlighted.

The residents had a really good time creating hand by hand with family and friends beautiful memory boxes. I would like to thank you all for the great response received and the amazing time that the residents have enjoyed reminiscing and sharing happy memories.

The residents joined last month to the celebrations of World Photo Day. The residents really enjoyed taking pictures of another resident in their favourite places all around Allingham House.

We have been doing a number of crafts at Troutbeck including personalized button bags and silohette pictures. Residents have thoroughly enjoyed the crafting.

We had an afternoon of 'Play Your Cards Right' wow, not as easy as you think, don't think the cards were kind to us today, but we had lots of fun and plenty of laughs along the way.
