Moving into a care home made easy

Our care team are here to make sure that making the move is as easy as possible for you and your loved one. If you still need reassurance, here are some stories from our residents, their families and our care team.

Some of our lovely residents enjoyed one to one activity's, we had a lovely chat and giggle, during the one to one our residents had a photo shoot. One of our ladies in the photographs enjoyed a nice facial and was really happy and quoted "it is nice to get a pamper"

Firework Rockets!! Our lovely residents made some fantastic firework rockets today using a card roll, pipe cleaners, star stickers and a few other resources. They had such a giggle trying to peel and stick the stars down, the quote of the activity was "where's my star gone?

At Hope Green the residents enjoyed creating beautiful artwork for bonfire night, exploring the changing colours of magical scratch art to draw some spectacular fireworks.

The lovely people who live at The Hawthorns made some finger print painted poppies which we turned into a field of poppies to remember and honour those who fell whilst defending our freedoms and protecting our way of life. This is pride place when entering the home for everyone to see; staf

It was a most enjoyable afternoon at Ashmead for Peggy's 100th birthday. In addition to a birthday card from Queen Elizabeth 11 the home’s chef prepared a special birthday cake and staff and fellow residents helped celebrate the occasion by singing happy birthday to Peggy.

On Sugar Awareness Day, we chatted about sugar and its origin, we then played the game * how many teaspoons of sugar * in a number of food items.

What is Halloween without pumpkins? We set to work at Deepdene creating the most fantastic pumpkins. Its was so much fun.

The recent Halloween party at Deepdene was amazing. The staff team gave everyone living in the home their best Halloween catwalk show. There were prizes for the best dressed ghouls or witches with some well-deserved prizes.

On Bonfire night Guy Fawkes visited all of our residents who thought he was great. He even enjoyed a game of bingo and handed out prizes before he visited people in their rooms.

This year we held a masquerade ball for Halloween. Residents spent lots of time creating their masks and costumes prior to the day. There was live entertainment from Andy T, we all had an absolute blast.

Bowerfield House have the most amazing staff , I'm very lucky to have a great work family. One of our staff on house keeping arrived this morning with a little gift for everyone, a wooden heart friendship message and and a mental health jigsaw friends keyring.

This year for Halloween the home and residents decided to turn the reception area into a spooky spiders lair. Everyone gave their opinions and added their artistic fair to the decorating around the home.

For the Halloween Party we had Entertainment from one of our regular Entertainers. The kitchen team created a Halloween lunch and made a Halloween high tea with spooky cakes and desserts for everyone to enjoy. We also played Games and finished the day with a bit of karaoke.

Here at Troutbeck we held a big celebration for Halloween and we were delighted with our Halloween display.

What can be better than your morning paper being delivered by your friends with a smile? One of our residents loves to help out and rises early every day so the newspaper round is a perfect role for her and she is delighted to get involved.

Our residents here at Ashfield Court really enjoyed a traditional afternoon tea, there were lots of conversations, cake and bubbles.

Bowerfield House had another great fun day celebrating hug a bear day, staff and residents loved giving our massive teddy bear Ted a big hug.

Ted the teddy bear made everyone smile and cheered every one up. Ted was all hugged up and later went for an afternoon nap.

We had great fun making bonfire biscuits at Cavendish Court. We decorated our biscuits like fireworks using icing sugar and sprinkles, we had great fun getting messy and enjoyed eating our handiwork with a cup of tea mmmm delicious!

Our residents really enjoyed watching the garden fireworks on Bonfire Night at Carmel Lodge. We had a lovely night enjoyed by all residents and staff.

Trick or Treat was in full swing during Halloween at Ashmead. The Activities team dressed appropriately and toured the whole home offering chocolate and biscuit bars on a specially decorated mobile trolley.

There is no end to the talents of our residents at Cedar Court, they take on every challenge set them! They were very keen to take part in the Cranleigh competition for the best 'Guy' to be thrown on the local bonfire.

Home cooking at its best! The residents made a fantastic homemade vegetable soup. They prepared all the vegetables, peeling carrots, chopping potatoes, pressing garlic and popping peas. Everyone took their time and the vegetables soon piled up in the cooking pot.

Everyone loves a pamper day. The people living at The Hawthorns enjoyed a manicure recently, which involved, filing, nail polish and a relaxing hand massage.

Much of the enjoyment comes from the chatting and getting together, just like you would in other salons.

Not a holiday that those who live here are used to celebrating, but our Halloween celebrations turned out to be such a fun filled day.

We are very pleased to announce that our Lifestyle Co-ordinators, Stanley and Kirsty are now qualified to develop and lead exercise classes, after completing the 'Exercise Leadership' course with Oomph! Wellness.

At Highfield many of the people living with us enjoy participating in art and craft activities and this week joined into pumpkin crafting including painting, carving along with flower arranging in the pumpkins 🎃

We had a fabulous day celebrating the care awards with our residents. We were delighted to win Best New Comer for our fabulous Home Manager Angela Galloway and Administrator of the year for our Admin Michael Lawrence.
