Moving into a care home made easy

Our care team are here to make sure that making the move is as easy as possible for you and your loved one. If you still need reassurance, here are some stories from our residents, their families and our care team.

This week in Cedar Court we had a donation of some flowers and the residents took part in a flower arranging activity. The residents who took part created some wonderful floral displays to take back to their rooms and enjoyed the creativity of the activity.

The Ashmead residents received a treat from an entertainer on Friday 22nd April. They enjoyed songs dating from the 50’s through to the 80’s, with the entertainer dressing to match the era of his songs.

The talented chefs that work at Water Royd Care Home couldnt wait to show off their skills by creating a variety of different cakes and desserts for the all the people at our home to try. Not only did these look good, they tasted incredible too.

Our lovely residents enjoyed some live entertainment outside in the sunshine with a talented couple who put on and outstanding performance. They sang a large range of different song choices for the people living with us, which was really enjoyed.

Allan received his trophy today on behalf of Howgate House.

We had a very special first visit from Chip the Therapy Dog and his owner this week and it was a great success with residents who were delighted to spend some time with him. It created a real 'buzz' along the corridors as Chip explored the home and sought out new faces to meet.

Our Wednesday bingo session was a real hit with everyone, we had lots of the people living with us join in the friendly competition, which everyone really enjoyed.

We would like to wish her Majesty a very Happy and Healthy Birthday.

These adorable kids came to our home to help us in distributing the Easter eggs for all the residents of Amber Court. They bring such joy to everyone, especially to our lovely residents. They also received chocolates from our residents. Happy Easter everyone!

As part of our garden party we had an original Daily Mail copy of the coronation from 1953 and also a copy of the illustrated London news which contains amazing pictures from the Queens life.

We celebrated the Queens birthday by Planting a tree for the Queens Green Canopy initiative, created to mark Her Majesty's Platinum jubilee which invites people from across the nation to plant a tree for the jubilee, we chose a flowering Cherry.

Clarendon Court are over the moon to have won the Regional Easter Decoration Competition! There was lots of team work by staff and the residents to produce this beautiful Easter Wreath. Well done Clarendon Court!

We have been busy making Easter crafts.

Here at Birch Heath our residents got creative for Easter they made some daffodils and also created a wreath for the front door. In the main reception we created a cherry blossom arch and an Easter forest.

Alexandra court certainly made a lovely Easter display for residents, families and staff to enjoy. We had lots of lovely comments from visitors!

Everyone love Queens Elizabeth, so in celebration of the Queen's Birthday we did a tea party, with delicious treats cooked by our kitchen team.

Residents and staff were delighted when Roger the Rabbit showed at Ashmead bearing Easter treats including daffodils, Easter eggs and chocolate bars.

We made the most of the sunny weather today and enjoyed some activities outdoors as well as enjoying our lunch there too.

The Belvedere baking club met again this week and we were joined by Doreen, Gillian and Annette. We found baking is an activity that allows our residents to focus on the task at hand as well as encouraging conversation and wanting to spend time in a group.

The sun was shining today, so we had a lovely trip to the ice cream shop and then the park. The residents all enjoyed their favourite flavour of ice cream and once we had finished we made our way to the local park. The park was busy with dogs and their owners.

The residents were happy to receive drawings made for them by their local Rainbows.

We had a very special visit for the staff today from the local ice cream van. Our manager Rebecca treated us all to a delicious ice cream of our choice which couldn't have come on a better day as the weather was lovely!

Every Monday afternoon, we’re taking residents for a walk going to a near parks, gardens, coffee shops or in a near restaurant. But this day we took Wayne to a coffee shop and had a nice cup of tea.

Students from Little Angel Nursery came to say hi to the residents of Amber Court. Margaret (one of our residents) is very happy to receive flowers and biscuits from them. Thank you very much!

In celebration of Easter, we in Amber Court planned for a fun filled days for residents, staff and relatives. We had a lot of Easter artworks prepared for our residents to show their creativity.

We decided to create an Easter wreath in our reception to welcome everyone visiting the home. Everyone is so amazed to see how creative and lovely the wreath is, especially the resident’s relatives.

What a wonderful Easter Season the residents have enjoyed at Allingham House, with so many different activities for everyone to enjoy. One of our mottos is Team Work makes the dream work and once again we put it into practice.

Winners Of The Easter Cake Competition

The people living at Buckingham House really wanted to celebrate the Queens 96th Birthday with some cheese and crackers and of course cake. The team decorated the outside space and people came out to enjoy some glorious weather and nibbles whilst raising a toast.

Our Easter activity proved to be a huge success, and our Residents really enjoyed this experience. It was a highly awaited Easter project here at Kents Hill and we were all very excited when the eggs finally arrived!

To end a month of Easter craft and related activities all communal dining areas were decorated for the Easter Sunday lunch, and as an egg-citing end to Easter the residents were visited by the Cedar Court bunnies offering chocolate eggs or soft desserts to all residents.&n

Hope Green Residents maintain links with local community groups, the taxi was booked and residents were ready to visit a local community group for lunch, music, and games.

Here at Howgate we had a fun day as we held an Easter Bonnet competition, Nikkie and her glamorous assistant took a while to come to the decision of who deserves the win. Well done all who took part and Happy Easter from Howgate!

Our craft club is always looking at different ways of being creative and we were delighted with the results of our Rock Painting. Residents decided they would like to use red white and blue colours so the rocks could be used throughout the year in the celebrations of the Queens Platinum Jubilee.

The residents enjoyed many different activities to celebrate one of the most important days at the Grand National, Ladies Day.
