MMCG Master Chef Competition

The MMCG Master Chef 2023 cook-off took place recently at The Brakes Development Kitchen in Reading and the winner was announced at our care awards ceremony on July 20th.

We had six finalists attend the competition from Acorn House, Belmont House, Birch Heath Lodge, Eltandia Hall, Lace Hill and Gateford Hill. They all cooked a fabulous three-course-meal, inspired by their favourite recipes and the meals that they enjoy cooking for the people who live in their care homes.

Pinewood's 30th Birthday Party

Pinewood Residential Home, in Le Mont Millais, celebrated three decades of service to the community with a big birthday party on March 22 and we had a week of thank you events, with more than 100 people taking part.

The 48-bed residential home, situated outside of the bustling centre of St Helier, pulled out all the stops in honour of this special milestone, with an abundance of decorations, balloons and bunting, and an anniversary party at the home.

Raising money for Anglia Air Ambulance

On 1st February, the people that live with us made a Valentines Day Hamper which we sold raffle tickets for.

We managed to raise an amazing £150 which the residents wanted to donate to Anglia Air Ambulance.

We had Julie Come in to collect the cheque, and we celebrated with refreshments and lovely cupcakes which they all enjoyed.

Colin - Resident Ambassador

Please welcome Corinthian houses newest team member. We have introduced a resident ambassador into the home who will be the collective voice for the residents at family meetings. He will be called upon when visitors attend the home to give his views and experience of living here. We feel it is will bring added positivity to the home and give Colin a feeling of independence.

He is very excited about the role and is looking forward to being involved.

Poetry Club

In the spirit of Random Acts of Kindness Day, we reflected on our experiences of kindness through our poetry club

We run our poetry club weekly - this has become more than just reading poetry; it allows those living with us to open up and share their experiences with each other, in turn building meaningful friendships and creating a space of trust. Simply reading aloud, or listening to others do so, has a sensational ability to ameliorate our self esteem and connect with others.

Just Bowl Competition

Our Brambles unit has started the Just Bowl competition for the home this month and staff and family members enjoyed getting involved in the competition with the people who live with us.

The plan is to have a competition in the Brambles, Hollies and Lodge and the top two winners come together to see which unit becomes the Just Bowl winners for the quarter.

There was lots of laughs and suggestions at how to bowl the top score from relatives and staff but ultimately it all comes down to skill and our lucky winners are excited to be in the home finals.
