Anti-bullying odd sock day

The people living with us at Bowerfield Court celebrated Anti-Bullying day which is a special event organised by the Anti-Bullying alliance group to raise awareness about the negative impacts of bullying, encourage people to stand up against discrimination and promote the importance of individuality. The people that live with us as well as members of staff wore "odd socks" on the day and managed to raise funds destinated to the Anti-bullying alliance. We would like to thank Amy, the resident's representative for arranging it.

Just Bowl in our Care Homes

Just Bowl is a fun, easy to play form of indoor bowls, which has recently been introduced into our care homes as part of our More...Lifestyle programme. The aim of the game is to skilfully roll the ball onto the highest scoring piece in order to build up points and contribute to the team’s overall result. Our partnership with Just Bowl has been brilliant so far; we have seen the people living with us benefit in so many different ways.

Acorn House awards ceremony

At Acorn House we had our very own awards ceremony to show appreciation to all staff members within the home. The people living with us spent the previous month voting for staff members ensuring everybody got a certificate of appreciation and a small gift. Our lovely Eileen was more than happy to help present our awards with the manager.

We also had entertainment from the wonderful singer Louis Devere, everyone had a fantastic time singing and dancing along. It was a fantastic day.

Claremont visit Co-op's coffee morning

We would like to say a huge thank you to Dawlish CoOp Funeralcare for allowing us to join them at their superhero themed coffee morning for Barnardo’s. This year Coop Funeralcare are working together with Barnardo’s by fundraising to help them bring communities together to support young people.

Just Bowl Northern Tournament

Last month, Minster Grange Care Home hosted our Northern-based instalment of the Just Bowl inter-tournament.

Everyone sported tops branded with their team names, and waved flags & pom-poms to cheer their teammates on. It was a great day for everyone who got involved, and an exciting way to get some More… Connection with their local sister homes.

A special congratulations to ‘The Moors Movers’ from The Moors for taking home the trophy!

Earsdon Grange, a care home in Wellfield, near Whitley Bay, has been awarded Diamond Status by North Tyneside Council, in recognition of the improvements made in prevention, identification, escalation and response to any emerging health concerns of those living in the home.

The home, part of the UK-wide Maria Mallaband Care Group, has been making use of the Whzan system, designed to help staff monitor the health of residents in nursing and residential care homes, which was rolled out across North Tyneside back in 2019.
