If there's one thing we can all agree on here at Abingdon Court, is that some of our most fond memories are taking holidays with our nearest and dearest - be that around the globe, or "staycation"-ing around the country!

River View Care Home are holding their own challenge to cycle from Tilehurst to Santa’s Village in Lapland, all in support of The Alzheimer’s Society ‘Elf Day’ this Thursday 3rd December.

At Birch Heath Lodge one of our gentlemen has been sharing with all his matchstick models.  He has kindly donated many of his works to the home. When asked  he said he started making his models in his retirement-  he had seen an article in a magazine and liked the idea.

We spent the morning colouring in some lovely pictures today, we chose a colour by numbers activity which was a Christmas Gingerbread house and our residents really enjoyed colouring it in. We also had a good go at our Word searches which our residents liked and found very relaxing.

Clarendon Court are all ready to welcome our local community for carols, minced pies, mulled wine or hot chocolate in support of the Stapeley Christmas Lights Walking Trail. Chilly night so we'll all be wrapped up warm.

On Tuesday residents enjoyed a craft afternoon making decorations to display within the home.

Buckingham House is ready for the Festivities to start. Everyone who lives with us are extremely busy creating beautiful Christmas Tree Decorations to place on our Christmas Trees.

One of our residents has a very talented husband who creates many pieces of art for his wives bedroom walls. This time he sketched a wonderful piece for our home which we have proudly framed.

Clarendon Court are busily preparing for an outdoor Carol Concert to support the launch of the Stapeley Christmas Lights Walking Trail in support of local charities.

Bonfire night was a huge success recently. People living at Brunel were able to safely watch the home’s firework display held in the garden. Later we settled down in front of the tv with our homemade pizza and a glass of wine to watch displays from around the world.

The period of Remembrance is a time that holds a high amount of significance for many of those who live here at Abingdon Court. For this reason, we make certain to honour and respect this time.

We celebrated world nursery rhyme week in style!

We had a lovely trip last week with our residents. We took advantage of the weather and made our way to our local park making a stop for a cup of tea and yummy cake at our local deli.

Today we are celebrating our head chef (Douglas)'s 50th birthday. Happy  Birthday from Residents & Staff at Ashfield Court.

Bowerfield House worked hard on getting the home ready for Remembrance Sunday. We decorated the house inside and out, painted pebbles red and black and made a piece of art for the garden.

We wanted to recognise Remembrance at Brunel House and we hosted a 1940s day.
