Rated Gold by Sunderland City Council

Staff and residents at Barnes Court of Wycliffe Road in High Barnes are celebrating being awarded a ‘Gold’ rating by Sunderland City Council for the second year running.

In September we celebrated ladies friendship day at Barnes Court with an afternoon tea event.

All our ladies were invited to enjoy scones, clotted cream and jam, biscuits and cakes with special drinks.

Field View Care Home in Blackhall opened it's doors to the community for our annual Winter Warmer event. Residents and guests enjoyed a hearty broth made from the vegetables grown by the residents and served with warm, crusty bread.

Residents from Parksprings Care Home in Motherwell enjoyed an awesome day at The Experience in Glasgow where they went Go Karting in electric Go Karts reaching speeds of 45 mph.

Batley Hall's November Newsletter

Here at Batley Hall we have lots of activities planned for our Autumn / Winter programme, these are designed to be stimulating but above all fun.

Weekly Outings into the Community

At Bowerfield Court one of our main goals at the moment for activities is to get our residents out into the community as much as possible. We started our Wednesday outings last Summer and we have been continuing them ever since.

The Belvedere Care Home in Alderley Edge hosted a Community Dementia Café on Wednesday 9th October. Residents, relatives and visitors were entertained by Desi Uke and his marvellous Ukulele.

Halloween Fun at Argyle House

The residents, relatives and staff got into the "Spirit" of Halloween when they dressed up for the day. There were witches, ghosts and ghouls a plenty. Preparation started well before the day with all the decorations being made by residents in arts and craft classes.

100th Birthday Celebrations at Rose Lodge Care Home

Rose Lodge Care Home in Newton Aycliffe was delighted to join Elsie Malcolm and her family celebrate her 100th Birthday in September. Elsie was born on in September 1919 in Coxhoe to Alfred Johnson and Mary Jane (Jinny) Galloway.

Best Dessert at Chef of the Year Competition

Dianne Simpson`s lemon Torte was voted best dessert in MMCG`s first Chef of the Year Competition. The event was held at the professional kitchens at Unilever in Leatherhead and hosted by My Purchasing Partner on the 3rd October.

Dementia Bus at The Westbourne

The Dementia Bus arrived at The Westbourne Care Home on Wednesday 2nd October.

Dancing and Singing at The Westbourne

Actress and Singer Jessica dropped into The Westbourne to entertain residents and staff with songs from The Lion King and ending with a rousing rendition of Cherrie Baby from the Jersey Boys. Residents enjoyed dancing and singing along.

The Belvedere in Alderley Edge have recently completed their indoor sensory garden room. Angela the activities lady at The Belvedere created this area especially for our dementia residents.

A wonderful morning at Cavendish Court on Friday 6th September at our Macmillan Coffee Morning. Residents and visitors all enjoyed lots of home baked cakes and a natter.

The home raised £35 on the day for Macmillan.

Distinction in Adult Social Care Worker Level 2

Congratulations to Elizabeth Smith from Willowdene Care Home on receiving her Distinction certificate after receiving a Distinction in Adult Care Worker apprenticeship level 2.

Zoo Lab visits Croft House

Zoo lab visited Croft House in September. Animals included a snake, a large snail, a bearded dragon, a spider, 2 rats and a cockroach. Everyone had a fabulous afternoon and are already looking forward to their next visit.

Our residents are the centre of everything we do so to fulfil their dreams we asked what we can do to help with this and what they would like to do in the next 6 months.
