Mother's Day Celebrations
Here at Highfield Care Home we were really excited to celebrate Mother’s Day! All the Mothers enjoyed many flowers and cards from their children and loved ones. The staff made sure we had lots of tea and cupcakes ready to give to all our residents to celebrate their own mothers. Everyone had a wonderful day.
Mother's Day Celebrations
As it was Mother’s Day we thought we would celebrate with a wine and cheese party. All the residents were very excited as we had been making beautiful art work to display on this special occasion. Everyone enjoyed the day with singing and dancing. The food was especially lovely, and everyone enjoyed it.

Bread Making at Thorntree Mews
Today we had a go at making bread in a bag. We had great fun with the dough squeezing and trying to get it all to come together. Took a while but residents did enjoy. We chatted about home baking and all the things they used to bake at home. Think we should have used a bread maker as ours was not a great success but we really enjoyed doing the activity and that's the main thing.
International Woman's Day
International Women’s Day is a day that celebrates the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women all over the world whilst also calling for equality - where men and women are treated the same. Spring Flowers!
Today we decided as spring is nearly here that we would create our very own take on it. We created these stunning rainbow daffodils; everyone chose how to decorate them and create very beautiful flowers. We were all amazed how wonderful they looked and everyone thoroughly enjoyed creating them.
Imagination Art
We decided today we would have a day of imagination art; I gave the residents numerous items to use whilst using their imagination to create their very own artwork. This worked a treat as it gave them the opportunity to be very creative and use their imaginations to create beautiful art for the home and their rooms.
Flowers
One of our residents received a beautiful bouquet of flowers from her husband which she was so thrilled about. It also gave her an opportunity to recall how much she enjoyed being in her garden, she recalls the memory of how beautiful they smelt and looked as she strolled in her garden, this bought back fond memories for her.
