Board Games
We had a lovely afternoon in Granby this week playing a variety of board games!
It encourages socialisation between staff and residents, as well as between residents who may not know each other very well.
We had great fun and have lots more new games to try over the next few weeks!
Personality Tree
This week we finished off our personality tree that is now being displayed in the memory Cafe in Rutland! Residents and staff worked together to create this bright and colourful display! Each leaf represents a different person, and while some don't have writing on, they still show off individual personality and creativity! It looks fantastic and I'm so proud of everyone who took part!
Staff Birthday!
David, Hospitality Manager, at Ashmead Care Centre, was given a most wonderful surprise by residents and staff alike on his birthday recently. All sang happy birthday whilst the Head Chef and his team presented a spectacular homemade cake to highlight the surprise. David marked the occasion with a short speech carefully prepared on toilet tissue.
Baking Club!
On a weekly basis some off our residents enjoy making cake cookies and getting creative with cake decoration. This week we decided to make a chocolate chip cookie for our afternoon tea. It is a nice way to bring back memories not only from childhood but all the times when they have baked with their own loved ones.
What a fantastic evening they had. They enjoyed sitting down with a cup of tea and eating all our homemade cookies!
Easter Celebrations!
Happy Easter from Highfield!
The residents have been working hard and have been very busy making an Easter card and decorating some Easter eggs. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed being creative and having lots of fun together. Everyone enjoyed their individual chocolate bunny and enjoyed a chocolate egg from the nest which we created from chocolate arrangements!
Easter Decorations
We have received lovely Easter handmade cards from Hall Croft Infants and St Swithun’s Primary School. We would like to say a big thank you to everyone involved. Our residents thought they were lovely and said how kind of you all to take the time to make them.
Easter Gifts
We had a donation of Easter eggs, donuts, hot cross buns and handmade Easter cards from St Swithun's and Hall Croft Infant School. We are very appreciative for the lovely gift and the time and effort made by Morrisons.
Easter Preparations!
In preparation for Easter, we spent an afternoon making Easter bonnets. Everyone chose what they wanted on their hats and created beautiful Easter bonnet, which they can wear on Easter Sunday. Everyone enjoyed making them and couldn't wait to wear them on Sunday.
Easter Celebrations!
Rodger the Rabbit and his friends paid Ashmead Care Centre a visit during the Easter Weekend. In addition to creating joy and laughter, they also treated the residents to gifts of Spring flowers and individual Easter Eggs.
Not one room, lounge or dining room were missed during this very special visit when all staff also joined in the fun of the occasion.
Reading Club
Here at Belvoir Vale Care Homes, we had a beautiful sunny Thursday and took advantage of the sunshine by taking our reading group outside. We enjoyed listening to one of our residents reading out loud for us all to hear. There was much group discussion afterwards over a cup of coffee. We could even hear the ducks and ducklings who seemed to be replying to our residents reading from over the hedge.
