Moving into a care home made easy

Our care team are here to make sure that making the move is as easy as possible for you and your loved one. If you still need reassurance, here are some stories from our residents, their families and our care team.

We celebrated the care awards in good style with flowing refreshments, alcohol and non-alcoholic followed with a buffet tea. We also combined Macmillan afternoon with a great bake off, a few of the residents judged the cakes and found myself, Tina, the over all winner, with Joanne the runner up.

Dorothy and Gwen were a few of our residents who joined in playing exercise games such as chair netball and ping pong and how many beanbags into the baskets, they all had great fun, and not realising they were working out by using there arms.

Cheers! for all the winners of 2021's Care Awards. Amber Court's Staff and Residents enjoyed watching the awarding ceremony streaming live from the main office. Our Chef also prepared a lovely and yummy food selection for everybody. It was truly a great experience for everyone!

Cedar Court were celebrating after winning 3 awards at the recent MMCG Care Awards 2021. The home was nominated in 7 categories, an achievement in itself and celebrated with an Oscar themed afternoon.

The whole of Chestnut Court are celebrating after Susan Rodwell was nominated for Carer of the year at the recent MMCG Care Awards. Everyone in the home were ecstatic and couldn’t wait to congratulate her on her worthy nomination.

Cedar Court are celebrating after winning 3 awards at the recent MMCG Care Awards 2021. The nominees have been nicknamed the Magnificent Seven by their colleagues and the people who live at Cedar in recognition of their amazing achievements.

Donut you just love a sweet treat, well here at Manorhey we received a lovely gesture from a residents family to show their appreciation for the care that has been provided by all staff in all departments at Manorhey.

Norma had a plum tree in her own garden so this brought back fond memories for her. We collected plums from our Plum tree, then the following day we made a plum and apple crumble.

Last week our residents enjoyed a country and western themed afternoon complete with music, props and instruments.

Last week our residents got involved in cake decorating, they all really enjoyed decorating their own buns.

Last week we had a great afternoon, we had a golf tournament with the residents. Dorothy and Mona did really well, we had our maintenance, John, help and give us some tips and lesson.

Bowerfield House has started our garden make over. We would like to thank John, one of our residents husband, for helping us cut down all the bushes so we can paint the fence. Myself, Megan and Rosie helped out too by painting the fence a lovely sky blue, it was great team work.

Bowerfield House and Bowerfield Court proudly wore our purple ribbon to support Alzheimer's sociality month . World Alzheimer's Day took place on 21st September and is part of world Alzheimer's month.

Bowerfield House and Bowerfield Court had a fantastic day out at Chester Zoo. The coach set of at 10am and returned home at 5.15pm. We enjoyed a fun full day at Chester Zoo, we walked round the zoo looking at all the animals, our favourites were the tigers, lions and elephants.

We have had a new project here at Hope Green as we were spending time personalising our walkers. It prompted lots of conversation and excitement too as we encouraged each other to choose items that they like, are important to them, or represent them in some way.

This weekend, the people living with us at Wyndham Hall celebrated Oktoberfest by making Alpine hats and listening and dancing to some traditional Oktoberfest music.

For the next destination in our International Food Day Journey, the Romanian national flag was flying high at Ashmead. Delicious national food was prepared and enjoyed. The event was preceded by a Relatives Meeting and all who attended were invited to join their loved ones for the event.

Lorraine Cotterill has worked at Ashfield Court for 40 years. She is our Head Housekeeper and has worked throughout the building in various departments. She is a truly valued member of the Ashfield Family.

Jean was our winner of the colouring competition today, she was thrilled to be chosen and loved the chocolates she won. She then carried on to win the most games of domino's, she couldn't believe her luck!

Dorothy, Gwen and Owen all joined in with the colouring and they all did some amazing pictures. It was thoroughly enjoyed and they thought it was a very therapeutic afternoon, we finished it of with there favourite tipple, a glass of sherry.

There was so much laughter yesterday morning at Hope Green as residents and staff gathered together to decorate cupcakes and even some waffles too! Buttercream, chocolate buttons and sprinkles were an absolute success on a dull autumn morning and perfect with our morning tea and coffee at 11am.

There was a word game challenge at The Hawthorns recently where residents took part in a variety of word games. At first there was the word wheel, once the word wheel landed on a letter they had to find as many words as they could including the letter.

We up cycled some photo frames today using jigsaw pieces. The residents absolutely loved this idea and said they were good enough to sell!

Bowerfield House had a fantastic week, we celebrated Hot Dog Day and Carols 77th birthday. Me and Ron also enjoyed a trip down to the pub, he enjoyed his pint and a lovely chat.

Betty recently celebrated her birthday in style with a virtual trip to Hawaii. It was fantastic party with dancing, traditional Hawaiian costumes and a Hawaiian themed buffet.

Pamper time is one of the favourite activities at Deepdene, so relaxing.

Keen to enjoy the lovely September sunshine we decided to hold a balloon race in the garden. There was a lot of laughter as we cheered the competitors on. As always, our chef and their team produced a fantastic buffet.

Thank you to a residents daughter who brought us a thank you card and Betty's Biscuits. We really appreciate the kind gesture.

It was smiles all round this Friday at Hope Green as we put a special order in to the local Fish & Chip shop for our lunch. You just can't beat it! Comments included 'good chippy food doesn't get better than this' & 'what a treat'.

We had an enjoyable day in the sunshine, we took Mabel, Wilna, and Owen for a lovley stroll around the gardens at the Thornton Theatre. There were lots of beautiful flowers, we really enjoyed the fresh air and all the residents enjoyed their afternoon.

For National Teddy Bear Day, as a home we decided to donate three brand new teddy bears to a local children's hospital. Before we could do this, we needed to give these wonderful bears a name!

Bowerfield House enjoyed a pampering day this week, hair, nails polished and hand massages while listening to some spa relaxation music, we all need me time now and then. All residents felt relaxed and chilled out.
