Sing Along with Ellie

During the national lockdowns, we've had to find new ways to deliver activities, as self-isolation and social distancing restricted many regular options in order to protect ourselves and the people around us. One of the blessings that came from this was our Sing Along sessions with Ellie over Zoom, which have become very popular with everyone in the home and remain a staple in our activities schedule.

Slushies

We all enjoyed an ice cold slush from our lovely slush machine, we made many different flavours but the blueberry was surely a winner, perfect to cool us down in this heatwave.

Aqua Painting

Faye came up with an ingenious innovative way to produce an Aqua painting in record time. A wet flannel and one foul scoop job done. All the more time to sit back and enjoy the sunshine with a glass of red fizz.

National Doughnut Week

The residents joined to the celebrations of National Doughnut Week with a delicious Afternoon Doughnuts Testing.

Coffee and Tea were served with the different types of Doughnuts, while the residents enjoyed listening and singing their favourite songs.

Trying Something New

We tried something a little different this week at Hope Green and used our fine motor skills with some Scratch Art. It was an absolute success, and we've decided that our pen pals at the local prep school might like them as a gift, so we're going to pop them in the post to them with a letter. It was great to try something new and we really enjoyed watching the different colours appear.

Love Parks Week

Love Parks Week in our home. We went for a walk around in our garden and we have done some gardening jobs. We enjoyed the music all day outside and played National Park Quiz in tea time.

Apollo 11

Today at Buckingham House, we commemorated Apollo 11's first landing on the moon 52 years ago!

Our residents had a great time meeting 'Neil Armstrong', a space quiz and watching the actual landing 52 years ago on television. It brought back a lot of memories for our residents and with that a lot to talk about.

Retail Therapy

Everyone needs a bit of retail therapy and it was David, Veronica, Val and Janna who hit the shops.  We travelled to Swindon designer outlet village to hunt out bargains and enjoy the history.  The outlet is on the suite of the former Great Western Outlet Works and the history and architecture are still very visible.

BBQ at Brunel House

Never slow to take advantage of the beautiful weather we decided to hold a BBQ in the lovely gardens at Brunel House.  Everyone got involved, including  Andrew our head chef who cooked some amazing BBQ food and  Sarah who helped to serve up the summertime feast.

Visit to Bristol Aquarium

We recently visited Bristol Aquarium. The aquarium is one of the residents’ most enjoyable trips, we were all amazed at what we experienced.  Two of the ladies had never been to an aquarium before and found it to be a very special experience.

One of the carers, Ben and the maintenance manager Bob joined Judith, Win, Pansy and Phil for this fanatic day.
