Bonfire Night at Brunel House
Bonfire night was a huge success recently. People living at Brunel were able to safely watch the home’s firework display held in the garden. Later we settled down in front of the tv with our homemade pizza and a glass of wine to watch displays from around the world.
Valerie commented on the evening "what a spectacular performance" and Mary said, “I am so pleased I got to see such a beautiful display".
Halloween at Kings Court
Halloween at Kings Court was a fantastic day, made even more enjoyable by all the people working at the care home dressing up and really getting into the spirit of things.
Book Club at Brunel House
Book club is going from strength to strength and everyone seems to be really interested in the next few chapters to discover what has happened! Our local mobile library have sourced a huge selection of suggested group reading titles and we look forward to reading them in the very near future.
Remembrance Sunday
The period of Remembrance is a time that holds a high amount of significance for many of those who live here at Abingdon Court. For this reason, we make certain to honour and respect this time. In the build up to Remembrance Sunday, we prepared by making our own poppies whilst talking about what Remembrance Sunday means to us.

Christmas Cake Baking
We are getting in the Christmas spirit at The Hawthorns.
Today we made a Christmas Cake. The people living at The Hawthorns followed the recipe and mixed all the lovely smelling ingredients together. We talked about how they made Christmas cakes and other delicious treats over Christmas. And of course we all had a spoon to taste the mixture like old times. Perfect!!
Skype Call
We had a lovely catch up recently with a dear friend. One of our activities team recently moved to Dubai and we called her on Skype. She loved catching up with everyone at The Hawthorns and we were thrilled to bring her up to date with how we are all doing. She showed us photos of what she's been up to and we were all so happy to have this catch up and check in. Big smiles all round!

World Nursery Rhyme Week
We celebrated world nursery rhyme week in style!
The people living and working at Brunel House dressed for the occasion. There was a big party that lasted the whole day with an endless supply of cakes and sweets. The day ended with a themed nursey rhyme quiz. It was just one of those really fun, silly days.
Remembrance Day Activities at The Belvedere
In our home we had many activities to remember and honour the memory of those who served, are currently serving and those we have lost.
'Lest We Forget'.
We had a lovely time crafting for Remembrance Day. We painted pictures and created poppies using paper plates, red and black paint and cupcake cases and once it had all dried we turned it into bunting for our lounge. We listened to some amazing stories from our residents family history which they were so proud to tell.

Trip Out
We had a lovely trip last week with our residents. We took advantage of the weather and made our way to our local park making a stop for a cup of tea and yummy cake at our local deli.
