International Nurses Day at River View

12th May is International Nurses Day. Our fabulous team were acknowledged for their continued hard work, especially over this last year, making sure that your loved ones are kept safe and well. Home Manager Lizzy paid testament to her team having worked days and nights during the pandemic making sure everything was covered and supporting all. All nurses were given a gift and a healthy goody bag of treats (and cake of course)! At the same time recognition awards were awarded to three fabulous nurses for their long service at River View Care Home of 17 years each.

International Nurses Day

We celebrated with everyone - Staff and Residents

VE Day Celebrations at Windmill Court

Residents at Windmill Court celebrated VE Day with a street party themed lunch, enjoying their favourite choice of lunch - beef burger, chips and a glass of wine!

On hearing of the residents' request for burgers to be served at the street party to mark the 76th year anniversary of VE Day, local butcher Gary Dutton very kindly donated some home made burgers for the event which everyone really enjoyed.

Queen's Birthday Celebrations

We celebrated the Queen's birthday in style at the home with a royal quiz and afternoon tea. We enjoyed homemade cakes made by our chef and fresh cream cakes all which were yummy. We can't wait for the Queen's second birthday, Trooping the Colour in June.

VE Day at Willowdene

We had a lovely day at the home celebrating VE Day and reminiscing about the stories we had heard and remembered ourselves during the Second World War. We had afternoon tea to celebrate the day and decorated the home and enjoyed music and quizzes.

Daily Workout

We have been doing our daily workout today which is Tai Chi and stretching exercises. We all look forward to this routine and it helps keep spirts up. Lots of fun in the morning.

Thank You Margaret

A huge thank you to Margaret the community champion at Asda in Falkirk for this lovely hamper to us for the residents. We really do appreciate all Margaret has done for us during this difficult year.

Donated Books

We had a lovely morning of crafts this morning. The wonderful books were donated by Funnybones Books, which is a company run by one of our residents daughters. She held a fundraising event and purchased the books to donate to the home. Thank you so much, we all loved them.

Care Practitioners

We were delighted when two of our team completed their Care Practitioners course especially during the challenges the pandemic sent us. Well done to Andrew and Richard who have already signed up the further progress their careers in care on the Nurse Associate course.

The Magic Teapot

Today our new Magic Teapot room invited a few residents to enjoy High Tea. Everyone arrived to the music playing on the old fashioned record player. The fabulous cakes and beautiful China wowed everyone. The room was filled with laughter, smiles and chatter. The tea flowed and the afternoon was a great success. Just as the ladies departed the magic tea pot dished out wee chocolates, the ladies can't wait to return to another afternoon at The Magic Tea Pot. Kind thanks go to Stacey, Pauline and all the kitchen staff for all the fabulous baking.
