Burns Day at Bowerfield House

Bowerfield House had such a wonderful day celebrating Burns Day. Robert Burns was a famous poet and we printed some of his most famous poems, it was lovely to read them. We decorated our home with the Scottish flag and the tables with lavender with tartan ribbon wrapped around, our table decorations looked great and staff and residents commented on it on how lovely the home looked.

We also had live entertainment on a link up which all residents enjoyed and sang along to the songs .

National Chocolate Day

What a fantastic day! We celebrated National Chocolate Day with no problems, it went down very well with a pot of tea. As Pat says "a moment on the lips is a lifetime on the hips but a little bit of something good does us a world of good", we all giggled and tucked in to our yummy chocolate cake.

Burns Night Celebrations at Hope Green

A wonderful day of celebrations included personalised activity packs, where residents chose to make bunting or colouring thistles and flags and of course our residents were up dancing together, enjoying the vibrancy of Scottish music. Conversations about visits to Edinburgh and also some of the Scottish islands was a joy to be involved in whilst sampling shortbread provided by our chef fresh from the oven. A real celebration of all Scotland has to offer.

New Years Resolutions

Happy New Year!

Here at Hope Green we spent some time together thinking about any resolutions we would like to make. Residents and staff joined in conversations joined with lots of laughter too as we popped our resolutions into our sparkling jar. We're also going to keep adding to it over the next few days as we continue to discuss our plans for the weeks and months ahead.

Amber Court's Gardening Club

We started the year by launching our Gardening Club here in Amber Court, it was participated by our residents and staff. Joan and Jimmy planted tomatoes, lettuce, mint herbs and spring onions. We are all looking forward to harvest these vegetables soon. This is a weekly activity that we get to plant our own vegetables and flowers. It was fun and good for everyone, especially to our residents that likely improve their wellbeing. Great job everyone!

Burns Night

What a way to celebrate Burns Night. One of our lovely members of staff provided traditional Scottish day and night wear for men. Including a sporran, a sgian dubh, shoes and an amazing kilt. The residents loved exploring them. We listened to Bagpipes and we enjoyed some Highland dancing. Mainly giggling at the staff giving it a go!!

Christmas at Allingham

Christmas as we know, is the most festive season of the year and this competition allowed us to make it even more festive and special for our residents, getting involved not just our residents, but the staff and the members of our community.

Cheese and Wine Tasting at Amber Court

As we celebrate National Cheese Lovers Day, we in Amber Court organised a wine and cheese tasting. Everyone enjoyed tasting the different types of cheese, crackers, dips, nuts, fruits and non-alcoholic wines. We also had fun socialising with each other while some staff is singing karaoke. What a great experience for everyone!

A Week at Water Royd

Last week our lovely residents enjoyed a bingo afternoon. We played for prizes/ for a line and then the full house, our residents were really in their element concentrating on the numbers making sure they didn’t miss one.

They then had a film afternoon and chose within the group what film they would like to watch, drinks and snack were served during the film.
