Burns Night at Rose Lodge

We celebrated Burns Night at Rose Lodge with the traditional Haggis, neeps and tatties. We enjoyed some Scottish songs during the day, along with Scottish Shortbread and tales of We had a lovely morning joining in the Burns celebrations and our Haggis, neeps and tatties were enjoyed by all.

Garden Hill's Project

We are delighted to show you the start of our new project, Carson Gallery and making great progress finding new talent for embroidery, sketching and painting. We can't wait to show you the final product.

Chinese New Year at Garden Hill

Chinese New Year celebrations at Garden Hill. We listened to traditional Chinese music while enjoying stir fry with spring rolls and prawn crackers with sweet chili dip. We used a translation app to learn Chinese and discovered our astrology animals. We then enjoyed some arts and crafts sessions to colour in our astrology animals.

Horses Near Field View

We have had some new additions in the field next to us at Field View and our residents have been popping out to see them and feeding the horses. We are so lucky to be surrounded by such lovely greenery at the home.

Chinese New Year at Carmel Lodge

We had great fun celebrating the Chinese New Year "the year of the tiger", we sampled some traditional Chinese dishes including , chow mein, chilli beef, sweet and sour, spring rolls, prawn toast and crackers. We had such a giggle drawing out fortune straws with a funny quote we had previously prepared for one another. Our residents got into teams for a Chinese themed quiz and ended what was a great afternoon with music, dancing and a cheeky glass of wine.

Kung Hei Fat Choy

'Kung Hei Fat Choy' we have had a fabulous day participating in the celebration of the Chinese Lunar New Year. Some super delicious meals were prepared by Chef Mitchell to mark the occasion. Amazing aromas filled the home which left us all licking our lips.  For those unable to join us in the dining areas room service was provided.

1-2-1's at The Wharf!

1-2-1 sessions are where some real magic happens!.  These are tailored to the individual, creating opportunities to reminisce, evoking pleasant and fond memories.  Specific interests are linked to activities that are engaging and meaningful.  Sensory sessions create satisfaction, enjoyment and stimulation.  Opportunities are created to strike up meaningful conversations.  The things we come to learn from those living with us are truly remarkable!.

Burns Night at Cedar Court

The team at Cedar Court love to get dressed up to entertain the people living at the home with their “Glee” style singing concerts. For Burns Night, they donned Scottish dress and produced an inspired program that featured a concert as well as some traditional Scottish refreshments.

International Flower Day

It was International flower day today and Annette, Ann, Eleanor and I enjoyed arranging some lovely flowers to put around the home. We also did some word jumbles and word searches based around flowers, there were some we had never seen before and with this we searched and learnt all about them our favourite being The Black Eyed Susan. These beautiful flowers which have a similar look to sunflowers are native to North America and are known as Pioneer plants which are the first to grow when an area has been damaged by fire or natural disasters.

Big Garden Birdwatch

In preparation for last weekend’s RSPB Big Garden Birdwatch, we have been busy creating our own birds in readiness .

Like thousands of people across the UK, we spent some time counting the different species of birds that we see in our garden, including our very own colourful feathered varieties .
