Howgate's Artists
Our residents turned their hand in still life drawing today. Some truly budding artists wouldn't you agree?

Bingo Time
Bingo is a very competitive game here at Kents Hill. It’s a must have weekly game and we get very competitive as the rewards are very sweet. We watch our cards closely and listen out for the numbers and clap for whoever gets the line

Sensory Activity
We enjoyed a different style of exercise Friday morning, we used some sensory fidget toys called pop tubes that are great for arm exercises as well as a lot of fun to play with. We also had a roll of large bubble wrap that we really had great fun popping, popping bubble wrap is a repetitive sensory activity that is meant to use multiple senses and watching them take part in this activity showed that sometimes it only takes something small and silly for us to have the most fun. We will definitely be doing this again and trying different size bubbles.
Hope Green Newsletter
Last week we launched our new Hope Green Newsletter which created much interest between staff and residents. It was sent digitally to families too encouraging them to get involved, and we received feedback and thanks.
Photographs and commentary of everyone participating in our Hope Green Lifestyle Programme are a way of keeping everyone updated and included.
Our team are committed to improving open and honest communication and feel confident that our Newsletter will be a fantastic resource.

Chip Butty Challenge
The Belvedere took part in our regional chip butty competition this week. We started off asking our residents what sort of bread they would like to have, what size chip should be on the butty, would we dress our chips in salt and vinegar, what sauces should we put on the side and finally what drink should accompany our chip butty.

Gardening club
Our first efforts by our gardening club have taken root! Our residents have been keeping a close eye and our seed tray are germinating. So far we have strawberries, tomatoes, nasturtium, pansy, alyssum and marigolds. Everyone is looking forward to warmer weather so we can make our outdoor space beautiful.
Cornflake Tarts
We decided to make one of our favourites today Cornflake Tart. Doreen, Annette, Ann and I made this in the morning ready to have for dessert after our lunchtime meal, this was served with custard and enjoyed by all of our residents.

Mother’s Day
Every lady was celebrated in River View today – both Mothers and Mother figures.
The home and lunch tables were decorated and each lady living with us had a red heart attached to their door wishing them a Happy Mother’s Day. Daffodils were delivered and displayed all throughout the home. At lunchtime the traditional Sunday roast was served, followed by a luxury afternoon tea with a selection of cakes and treats. Lots of cards and flowers were welcomed throughout the home all day.

Next Stop Portugal
As River View continued their virtual holidays, our next stop was Portugal. Today was a 'flip flop' day for sure.
Entertainer Keith visited River View, playing his guitar and singing some sunshine tunes, which really brought the feel good factor and that flip flop day feeling into our home, prompting a few people to get up and dance.

Red Nose Day Celebrations
River View staff, visitors and residents collected donations totalling £38.00 for Red Nose Day this year, with 1 person winning a wonderful chocolate fountain as a thank you for their contribution over the weekend.
