Queens Birthday Celebrations at Willowdene

More fun at Willowdene In April when we enjoyed afternoon tea for the Queens 96th birthday we had a sing a long and a quiz about Royalty with some hilarious answers from the residents.  We had such a great day and hoped the Queen had as much fun as we did.

Queens Jubilee Tree Planting

We’ve planted a cherry tree for the Queens Platinum Jubilee 2022.

We were delighted that John Wilkinson, who is the husband of one of our residents, said it was an absolute honour to do this for us.

The photos show our deputy manager Elizabeth, John, our Lifestyle Coodinator Angela and Administrator Sarah all assisting with planting the tree.

Soft Pet

The residents are always telling us how much they miss their pets, so we have a new resident in the home.  Angus, a soft pet which the residents are able to cuddle and pet whenever they want.  They have a lovely visit from Angus in April and can’t wait for when the pet therapy dogs are back in the home.

Visit From Rishi Sunak

Residents, colleagues and relatives had a wonderful afternoon last week when Rishi Sunak, MP of Richmondshire and our Chairman and Founder of Maria Mallaband Care, Phil Burgan, visited our newly refurbished Lodge at Rosedale Care Home.

They enjoyed a wonderful afternoon tea prepared by Maya and her team in the kitchen and alcoholic and non alcoholic Prosecco.

This was Rishi's second visit to the Lodge having visited the home in July 2019 when a group from National Citizen Service raised money to buy a piano and some guinea pigs for the home.

Easter Raffle at Rose Lodge

We would like to thank all the staff and visitors for all their support with our Easter raffle we raised £121 for our residents funds.

Crossword Challenge

Our residents enjoy working on a crossword together. One of their favourites is the Yorkshire Post crossword puzzle. A couple of weeks ago they decided to tackle the YP giant crossword. We may have bitten off more than we can chew - we’re still working on it!

Herb and Spice Tasting Session

This morning we tasted a selection of herbs and spices, and discussed their use in food preparation and seasoning. We managed to identify different tastes and textures, including parsley, lovage, basil, sage, rosemary, chives, coriander, wild garlic, garlic salt, pepper, cumin, chillies, ginger, nutmeg and tarragon.

Raffle Prize Donations

Taylors of Harrogate have kindly donated this wonderful selection of Yorkshire Tea to be one of our raffle prizes for our next Garden Party. Let's hope the weather is as generous.

Easter Flower Donation

Thank you to Emma from Spa Shop on Lowther Street who donated £200 worth of Easter flowers for our ladies who live in the home. They had such a wonderful surprise when our Manager and Lifestyle Coordinatored dropped by with various boxes and bouquets from you. It was a joy to see the smiling faces of the ladies in the home.

Residents Committee Meetings

At Manor Park Care Home we believe our residents should be a huge part of any changes and decisions which are made in the home.  We have appointed our resident committee who meet with all of the residents on their unit and bring along any feedback they have on matters in the home.  We had our first residents committee meeting in April and our committee members loved it. Our meeting went very well with lots of new ideas for outings, menus, decoration and activities.
