VE Day Celebrations at Rose Lodge
VE Day at Rose Lodge Care Home on Carer’s Way, Cobblers Lane in Newton Aycliffe was made even more special by Aycliffe Radio joining us to launch their new show, Memory Lane, which plays 40's and 50's music outside our care home. We had entertainment by the fantastic Amy Harrison who sang some of our favourite songs as well as the National Anthem.
An Update From Appletree Court
We miss our visitors but during this time we are keeping in touch in what ever way we can and we have adapted and learnt new skills.
We have rediscovered the art of letter writing and regularly write letters to our loved ones and we look forward to receiving the replies.
Technology is amazing that we can see and chat with family and friends on what looks like a little television.
The community continue to be caring, sending in little parcels, together with other gifts, donations and letters. We appreciate them all.

VE Day at Appletree
To celebrate VE day our resident's grandchildren drew around their hands, coloured them in and sent them to us.
We put them together in this poster so our residents could be close to their loved ones
All day we listened to wartime music around the home and the staff team couldn't resist joining in, dancing through the corridors "Doing the Lambeth Walk"
We enjoyed meals from the past, including spam and corned beef fritters.
The day was a little bit different but we still had a fantastic time

Pen Pals
We were delighted when our local schools began sending letters and drawings to our residents at Brunel House and we have enjoyed writing back.
It's so thoughtful, we have enjoyed reading and sharing them and they are now displayed in our home.
Thank you from us all.

Stay Safe Everyone
Thank you to the pupils at Cropwell Bishop Primary School for the wonderful paintings for our residents.

Norwich Football Club at The Hawthorns
Getting post at The Hawthorns Care Home in Norwich is always pretty exciting but when we received a delivery from Norwich City Football Club there was a buzz around the home. Our staff and residents were delighted to receive this signed and framed football shirt along with a carrot cake from no other than Delia Smith. Thank you, we have this up in pride of place at the home.

Rainbow Gifts
Thank you to the Hallam family for the lovely cakes and painted stones delivered to Belvoir Vale Care Home along with the lovely message saying..
“Just a little thank you for your hard work through these tough times. Enjoy a cuppa and cake whilst you take a break." All the cakes have been baked by the Hallam family, Dorothy’s daughter and grandchildren.
The stones were painted by the grandchildren of Dorothy.

Tat Fresh Skin Care
A big thank you to the guys from Tat Fresh Skin Care who dropped off some of their skin balm at both Hope Green and Carmel Lodge. The staff really appreciated the kind thought.
Ste & Danny have also been donating balm to the NHS. Ste said "It was brought to our attention that repeated washing of hands has caused dry skin, cuts and 'burn like' injuries to our vital NHS and care home staff so they decided to help. So far the lads have donated over 1000 balms to members of NHS & care staff for free."

Easter Cards
Easter this year was a little different to other years at Belmont House Care Home in Starbeck, Harrogate but we also wanted to make it memorable for our families who were unable to visit our residents.
We thought it would be nice for family members to receive a card from their loved one wishing them a Happy Easter and letting them know that they are all doing well and are looking forward to being together again at the end of this current situation.
