LGBT February Awareness Month

Bowerfield Court and Bowerfield House staff and residents are celebrating LGBT February awareness month.

This year's national awareness month is looking at LGBT history and the history of the gay rights and related civil rights movement. Some of the history included covers role models, community building and represents major contributions of the LGBT community. Very topical and interesting.

Relaxing Art Session

With the beginning of a new year we decided to introduce new ideas within activities. One of the ideas discussed alongside residents in an activities meeting, was to begin a weekly relaxing art session. That would be designated to creating artwork for the walls of the home, calling it ‘Bringing the home to life’.

The Spotlight Theatre Company

The Spotlight Theatre Company is the home of Bridlington Amateur Operatic and Dramatic Society (BAODS) and a registered charity. They offer a space for rehearsals and community activities, whilst also live streaming from world famous companies of opera, ballet and drama productions.

Morning Of Friendships

Music, bubbles and a glass of port made a great combination for a joyful morning of friendship and conversation. It was great to enjoy the lovely atmosphere together, say 'cheers' to friends and have a thoroughly wonderful time.

Allingham's Activities

We know how important it is to keep in touch in these challenging times and thanks to the technology this is possible. The residents have enjoyed a video call with the children from the nursery next door and from the IBS. The children and the residents really enjoyed singing their favourite songs like Incy Wincy Spider, I'm A Little Teapot, The Grand Old Duke Of York and Jack and Jill.

Anniversary Celebrations

Team Nights Court were bursting with excitement on Thursday 28th January. Our favourite Knights court couple Mrs and Mrs V were celebrating their 65th Wedding Anniversary. The Activities team had to think outside the box.

History of Chocolate

We have been discussing the history of Chocolate and our own local brands. Lots of lovely Bournville chocolate was available which was Lillian's favourite.

Burns Night

Burns Night was celebrated at Cavendish Court with poetry, whisky and clootie pudding. A wonderful afternoon enjoyed by all.
