Chinese New Year Preparations at Bowerfield Court

Lately, we have been starting to focus on Chinese New Year and we have many more activities planned in the following week before the upcoming celebration. We started this week by making dragon decorations. Next week we have a lantern craft, we will have a pinata during our regular group exercise session and we will be having a special Chinese New Year bingo session since the bingo and bucks fizz was such a hit. This time we will have fortune cookies involved. It is going to be an exciting week!

New Year at Bowerfield Court

Our New Years celebration was a hit! To ring in the new year we had owls and a bird of prey brought in for all of the residents to enjoy. The owl trainer was fabulous and the entertainment session was not only extremely educational, but interactive. Everyone who wanted to could let the owls on their hand. Our bravest residents held chicken legs while an owl flew across the room to their hand. We will definitely be inviting the trainer back to learn more owl and bird of prey facts.

Jack and the Beanstalk Pantomime for Bowerfield Court

The end of December and beginning of January have been jammed packed with fun activities inside and outside of the home.

Chit Chat Club at White Rose Lodge

Here at White Rose Lodge we have introduced a monthly Chit Chat Club to replace a Committee Meeting. This offers residents a space with an opportunity to talk and get to know each other without an agenda alongside refreshments of their choice. At the previous meeting we offered cheese and crackers as a resident had verbalised they would like more cheese variety. At the end of the meeting we asked residents if there was something they would like to eat on the next occasion we gather. It was a group decision that the residents would like chocolate eclairs.

Remembrance for Cassie

In the beginning of January residents had a small gathering of thanks to celebrate Cassie the dogs life and all that she gave to the residents here at White Rose Lodge and other homes locally. The gathering consisted of hymns including ‘all things bright and beautiful’ alongside ‘morning has broken’. Reverend Maxine Waller spoke about giving thanks to God for providing us with these animals which give us unconditional love, comfort and Joy. Prayers were said for Cassie and to Jean for allowing us to have shared joyous experiences with Cassie.

National Pie Day

People living at Bowerfield House celebrated National Pie Day on Thursday 23rd January. The event was supported and enjoyed by residents, staff and families sharing a meat pie made by the Chef at Bowerfield House. Families were invited to bring in a pie of their choice and join their families for lunch.

Rosedale Nursing Home cooks up 5 stars.

Here at Rosedale Nursing Home we believe that food is the key to a happy home and we believe our standards in the kitchen are high which includes not only the food we serve but also the cleanliness and hygiene of the kitchen at Rosedale. This is something our Head Chef, Maya Limbu, has taken very seriously in the 3 years she has been at Rosedale. Since joining the team Maya has ensured that standards are met in every aspect whether this be cleanliness, nutrition or preparing the best food for the residents.  We were delighted that when we were inspected in January 2020 the Fo

Postcards of Kindness

Cavendish Court is a part of the worldwide initative of 'Postcards of Kindness'.

The home manager joined the Facebook group and that's when the excitement started. Postcards have arrived from all around the world, Dubai, Australia, America and all over the UK. The residents sit and have a cup of tea and talk about what people around the world have written to them and respond to those people who ask for responses.

Virtual Cruise Week at Windmill Court

Last week we took a virtual cruise in Windmill Court. Our virtual ship called in at a different port each day, and finally docked back in England on Friday, just in time for fish and chips.
