Moving into a care home made easy

Our care team are here to make sure that making the move is as easy as possible for you and your loved one. If you still need reassurance, here are some stories from our residents, their families and our care team.

We decided to try something a little different for our arts and craft day. We took to the gardens and began searching for some pebbles and small rocks to decorate. We had so many inspired designs and the residents have decided to sell their creations at our upcoming winter fete.

We enjoyed an afternoon of pizza making in preparation for our take away and film night.

There were a huge selection of toppings and we discovered some budding chefs amongst us! Its fair to say they were all delicious.

Cavendish Court held their very own awards ceremony celebrating the staff and residents, they also had a lovely buffet which everyone enjoyed.

The Annual MMCG Care Awards was celebrated brilliantly on Friday 24th September. The people who live at The Hawthorns, dressed up in their finest and joined the team to recognise the achievements of all the nominees.

Recently the people who live at The Hawthorn made their own pizzas for tea. As well as kneading their dough to create the perfect pizza base, they also choose their own toppings. They were delicious!!

For Black History Month the people living at The Hawthorns have been involved in a number of activities, including quizzes to identify some of the most influential people and learning more about them. We also completed word searches and posters.

Linley led the entertainment recently making it very interactive, with dancing, and exercises accompanied with bubbles and feathers, a fabulous afternoon.

As the days get shorter we begin to think about the beautiful season, Autumn. With this in mind, the creative minds at Deepdene took to drawing stunning Autumn leaves coloured with autumnal pastel colours.

Another wonderful trip out to Hodgehill Cafe where yummy cake and scrumptious tipples were enjoyed by all!. Here at The Wharf we understand how important it is for those living with us to also be a part of their local community and to enjoy a lifestyle that they have planned and hoped for.&

Happy Birthday Richard!

For Richard’s recent birthday we decided to take a virtual trip to Mexico. Sombreros at the ready, tasty food and Latin music, a great way to celebrate.

We recently celebrated International country and western day in style at a Hoedown at Kings Court. There were hot dogs and cheese bites and of course plenty of country music with inflatable guitars for those that wanted to join in. It was a fun day all around.

Allingham House was nominated on three of the Care Award categories. All our nominees received a trophy as a recognition for the hard and devoted work that they deliver every day in our home. Also, John Harte, one of our nominees was awarded with the Maintenance Person Of The Year.

As Winter is drawing closer we know that there won’t be as much colour in the garden. To be prepared we used our ‘Gardening Fun’ session to paint stones this week to put in the garden and add some colour for us all to enjoy.

As part of the “National Arts in Care Homes’ day, we took advantage of the beautiful early Autumn weather and took out art outside. One person who lives at Woodland decided to take a walk around the garden for inspiration and then drew what she saw.

Later this month a circus entertainer will visit Woodlands and in preparation for this we have been creating different elements to make a circus tent display. We have used different textures to do this including puffy paint, glitter and tissue paper.

A splash of colour was added to the dining room tables today at Hope Green when we decided to get together and organise flower posies. Three of our ladies lovingly arranged the autumnal colours and placed them with care around the dining area as a little surprise at lunch time.

Bowerfield House has started decorating our home for Halloween and its looking great and very spooky, residents and staff enjoyed cutting out faces in our pumpkins. Our winner at Bowerfield House 2021 was carer Ellie.

Healthy body equals to a healthy mind and so being active is a priority at Mary Chapman Court. Two of the favourite activities are Fly Balloon, which always starts the laughter and good old catch which always highlights the budding tennis aces in our midst.

Kate received a bouquet of flowers from all the staff welcoming her and to say a big thank you for her support that she has shown us and her dedication to the home.

The Belvedere enjoyed celebrating our Annual Care Awards last month. We filled our lounge with our wonderful residents and staff to watch the ceremony which celebrated all of MMCG's amazing staff within the company.

Bowerfield House has had another busy week , we have been planting daffodils and enjoying a nice caramel latte with a squirt of cream, this always goes down well.

It has been fantastic and a pleasure to have been able to invite two of our regular entertainers to Birch Heath Lodge last month.

To celebrate World Egg Day, here at Ashfield Court we decided to decorate our eggs. Here are our final results.

We celebrated World Egg Day last week at Amber Court. Our kitchen prepared various egg dishes for our residents to choose and enjoy for their breakfast. Yummy!

Before our cake shop will open, one of our residents helped us to advertise our cake shop by posting ang giving flyers to our neighbour's houses.

Since we're making lovely and yummy cupcakes, our team decided that it's time for a cake shop. Our cake shop raised £77. Our staff and visitors all participated in it. Our residents enjoyed selling and eating our cakes. A big thank you for all who supported our little cake shop!

OKTOBERFEST came to Buckingham House. Everyone enjoyed dancing to Umpapa Umpapa music, whilst enjoying a glass of German beer and traditional snacks which went down very well, whilst we all joined in a game of Beer Pong.

A great day had by all.

Our residents enjoyed the care awards party, celebrating with a singer, so the residents did lots of singing and dancing. We had a special menu made by our chef Michelle and staff dressed as waiters to make it extra special for the residents.

In recognition of London Fashion week recently, some of the people who live at The Hawthorns created their own tie-dye t-shirts. We were all pretty impressed with the results, perhaps there’s room for a Hawthorns fashion line!

Manorhey joined in on the care awards last month. We arranged an Oscar themed party. Along with the residents the staff enjoyed prosecco with strawberries, a spread of hot and cold buffet and an Oscar themed cake which was made by our activities Co-Ordinator.
