Isabella celebrated her 103rd birthday this week at Cavendish Court with her family and staff. We enjoyed cake, music and reminiscing.

Our residents at Hope Green took part in a bit of baking. Residents helped melt chocolate, cover the rice crispies and cornflakes and pop them in paper cases.

They then got to enjoy them later with a cup of tea.

We had a great time on 20th January hosting a 1940's party. We got dressed up and had our hair done by our activities coordinator Stacey Adams. We had old songs playing on the record player, arts and crafts and food tasting from back in the day.

We had a great day celebrating Burns Night at Belmont House Care Home. The day started off with entertainment from Tony Cerexhe who sang his Scottish Ballads. The residents accompanied him with musical instruments and dancing.

At Windmill Court we are very lucky to have a regular visitor in Dude the rescue pony. Dude lives at the HUGS Foundation and takes his regular visits in his stride.

Residents at Clumber Court Care Home had a fabulous afternoon when Jess visited to sing songs from the forties and fifties. it involved lots of singing, dancing and flag waving!

Carmel Lodge staff celebrated the gardening day on Wednesday 5th February by dressing as Land Girls and speaking with our residents about history WWII - 1939 – 1945.

Lately, we have been starting to focus on Chinese New Year and we have many more activities planned in the following week before the upcoming celebration. We started this week by making dragon decorations.

Our New Years celebration was a hit! To ring in the new year we had owls and a bird of prey brought in for all of the residents to enjoy. The owl trainer was fabulous and the entertainment session was not only extremely educational, but interactive.

We joined together to celebrate the 50th Wedding Anniversary of two of our residents at the Belvedere, amidst fun and celebration, shared by residents and staff, as we enjoyed a lovely anniversary cake and bubbly!

Here at White Rose Lodge we have introduced a monthly Chit Chat Club to replace a Committee Meeting. This offers residents a space with an opportunity to talk and get to know each other without an agenda alongside refreshments of their choice.

Bowerfield House celebrated Burns Day with the residents creating arts and crafts work using tartan papers and symbols such as the flower, the Scottie dog, fabric and songs.

People living at Bowerfield House celebrated National Pie Day on Thursday 23rd January. The event was supported and enjoyed by residents, staff and families sharing a meat pie made by the Chef at Bowerfield House.

Residents at Skell Lodge in Ripon had a busy month making a Christmas tree out of recycled items for the Ripon winter wonderland tree competition. We spent many hours making caricatures of ourselves, looking at old photographs of what we used to look like and recreating them.

December brought with it a time for bringing people together and a feeling of warmth, joy and happiness. Over the course of December we were delighted to open our doors to students from local schools to sing carols for our residents.

On the 17th December we held a day to raise money for the Alzheimer's society by dressing up as elf’s for the day and participating in games with many treats to go around. We had guess the name of the elf teddy, pick a number to win a prize, there was a tombola and an ongoing raffle.

December has been a busy month for us at Water Royd House. We decorated the home ready for Christmas with lots of bright lights, baubles and Christmas trees around the home.
