Sing-a-long Session

Here at White Rose Lodge, we have adapted one of our regular weekly activities, to make it more “Resident centred” so that Residents have more control in decision making. The sing along session on Saturday was curated by Pat, and she chose a selection of songs from a list. Each song was then introduced by Pat with the microphone and a reason why she chose it. Everyone gave Pat a round of applause at the end for her efforts and she said she enjoyed choosing the songs for everyone to sing along

Bonfire Night

As we say good by to Bonfire Night and Guy Fawkes where our residents enjoyed a beef broth for lunch and then mini hotdogs and ginger cake for dinner, followed by a fireworks display.

Remembrance Crosses

We have placed Remembrance crosses around the gardens at Oaklands, in quiet reflection for those we have lost. We also think of all who are still with us, who have served.

Wedding Breakfast at Oaklands

November's challenge was to enhance our dining experience in the home. We sat down with our residents and asked them about some of their most favourite dining experiences over the years and one theme which came out a few times was weddings our residents had attended.

We thought this would be a brilliant idea for our residents to attend a wonderful wedding breakfast at Oaklands.

Parfait Day

Today was NAPA Parfait day. Parfait is a type of food that is eaten as a dessert. Parfaits are typically made of several layers of a few basic ingredients, like yogurt, fruit, and granola. We chose apple and yogurt with a biscuit crunch for our Parfait.

We had as much fun creating them as we did eating them.

Oomph Get Fit Class

We enjoyed our Oomph get fit class cricket style in November, we turned the lounge into our very own cricket pitch. We had our very own batters, fielding team and bowlers. Thanks to NAPA we had a very good cricket quiz. All good fun, here at the Moors care centre!

The Moors Remembers

The staff at The Moors Care Centre brought bits from home, their husbands medals and army boots to create a Remembrance display for visitors and residents to the home.

Dementia Bus

The dementia bus came to Minster Grange in November, staff relatives and visiting professionals enjoyed the experience. The feedback has been phenomenal and we are currently working on how we can implement new learnings into our home.

Christmas at Minster Grange

Christmas is coming to Minster Grange. Our residents and staff are so excited to be getting into the festive spirit. We have trees on each unit at the home and the residents have enjoyed helping to put them up in the lounges.

Dining Experience

As part of resident dining experience we asked our residents what they would like to have as part of their dining experience and they chose a Christmas theme.

Our wonderful residents have spent all afternoon decorating the table, they have chosen what decorations they would like and then gave our activity lady Nadine a list of items they would like purchased to make the table centre pieces.

They designed and decorated the table themselves with support from the team at Manor Park and we think they have done an amazing job.
