Bowling at Earsdon Grange
The winter days may be cutting in but at Earsdon Grange we are still enjoying our usual activities but just inside the home. Our residents love a game of bowling so we set up the lounge as an indoor bowling alley. They really enjoyed the afternoon and celebrated their wins with afternoon snacks and tea.
Edith's 85th Birthday
We celebrated Edith celebrating her 85th birthday at the home in January. Her morning started with opening her presents whilst having Happy Birthday sung to her. Our Chef, baked her a cake to enjoy with a cuppa and her friends at the home all enjoyed a little tea party as she blew out the candles.
Burns Night Celebrations at Troutbeck
Our residents enjoyed a fabulous party to celebrate the life and Poetry of Robbie Burns, we had afternoon tea with Scottish Raspberries and lovely shortbread.
Oomph Exercise Session at Troutbeck
Our residents really enjoyed our fun OOMPH exercise session.
Pom poms add to the fun and getting everyone moving about is brilliant this has been a great introduction to our busy calendar and is very popular here at Troutbeck.
Chinese New Year at Carmel Lodge
We had great fun celebrating the Chinese New Year "the year of the tiger", we sampled some traditional Chinese dishes including , chow mein, chilli beef, sweet and sour, spring rolls, prawn toast and crackers. We had such a giggle drawing out fortune straws with a funny quote we had previously prepared for one another. Our residents got into teams for a Chinese themed quiz and ended what was a great afternoon with music, dancing and a cheeky glass of wine.
Kung Hei Fat Choy
'Kung Hei Fat Choy' we have had a fabulous day participating in the celebration of the Chinese Lunar New Year. Some super delicious meals were prepared by Chef Mitchell to mark the occasion. Amazing aromas filled the home which left us all licking our lips. For those unable to join us in the dining areas room service was provided.
Burns Night at Cedar Court
The team at Cedar Court love to get dressed up to entertain the people living at the home with their “Glee” style singing concerts. For Burns Night, they donned Scottish dress and produced an inspired program that featured a concert as well as some traditional Scottish refreshments.
Flower Arrangements at Allingham
The residents created beautiful flower arrangements that were displayed all around Allingham House, adding a splash of colour in our home. It was the perfect opportunity to reminisce with our residents about their favourite flowers and flower arrangements made for specials occasions. The most popular ones were of course their weeding bouquets.
Meal Out
Ladies and gents enjoy a meal out at one of their favourite restaurants. The time went so fast as we laughed and chatted amongst ourselves when we realised we had been sat there for 4 hours. Time really does fly when you are having fun.
Personal Biography
Residents were given the choice to write a personal biography about their lives or choose a famous person. The laptops were out for use and some spent considerable time discovering the lives of their idols. Rock Hudson, Mother Teresa, Shirley Bassey and Roy Orbison to name a few.
