St David's Day

The residents enjoyed creating beautiful Daffodil Flower Arrangements to celebrate St. David's Day, the perfect opportunity for the residents to let their imagination run free and be creative, putting a splash of colour in our dining room tables.

Hope Green's Gardening Club

The weather might be cold, wet and windy outside but our Gardening Club at Hope Green continues by 'bringing the outside in'. We care about connecting to nature, and providing our residents the opportunity to get involved whatever the weather and whatever the season. Whilst we planted seeds together residents noticed the smells and textures which gave us a sense of 'wellbeing' and 'calm' regardless of the wind and even hail outside. Perusing a selection of gardening books gave us the chance to discuss and plan for Spring.

Baking

We just love baking at Troutbeck Care Home, we chatted about the baking we have done with our families and how children also love baking. Baking triggers ,memories, encourages creativity and appetite, maintains a sense of independence and keeps us social, we have plenty of ideas for the coming months. Happy Baking!

International Women's Day 2022

At Hope Green women gathered together to chat, eat chocolate, walk in the spring sunshine, listen to music and read. The sunshine shone through the windows and there was a real air of hope and togetherness. In recognition of current events in our world the women of Hope Green tied yellow and blue ribbons on the display in the entrance of the home and visitors and staff were invited to join in too. This was a symbol of our togetherness with women in our world who are currently facing great hardship, especially the women and girls of Ukraine.

Around The World in Chip Butties

We decided to be creative and innovative choosing a theme, and we chose, Around the World in Chip Butties.

Anniversary Card

We love to listen to the people who live with us at Kents Hill so when David told us he wanted to surprise his wife Lynne on their 26th wedding anniversary with a card he has made himself, our Lifestyle Team couldn't wait to help him.  They supported David to make the card which looked fantastic and then posted it to his wife to surprise her.

Church Service at Cedar Court

In preparation for the return of the church services Michael used his connections in the local community.  He spoke with his contact Alan from the "Men In Sheds",  Alan was a former Cedar Court volunteer and NAPA volunteer of the year, who to part in a group "Men in Sheds" .  They discussed the possibility of them making us two crosses to form part of our service.  They were more than happy to help and kindly made and donated to us two oak crosses which will take pride of place at the return of the church services here in Cedar Court.

Tree of Knowledge

We have been working over the last few weeks on our Tree of Knowledge.  During recent activities we have discussed and spoke to the residents asking them to offer any words of wisdom.  We also approached the community including the HM Lord-Lieutenant of Surrey who sent over his family moto.  The words were then attached to the decorated apples that the arts and crafts participants have been making throughout Cedar Court and these will be hung from

Pancake Day at Allingham

The traditional Pancake Day marks the beginning of March and one of the sweetest traditions during this time of the year. Our residents joined the celebrations having delicious pancakes, served with all sort of toppings. Golden syrup, Nutella, Strawberry syrup, lemon and sugar were served with tea and coffee to make this day an unforgettable experience.

Baking Day

In the home this morning we had fun baking cookies, in the afternoon we then decorated them. This was an enjoyable activity for all those who attended.
