Hawaiian Party at Troutbeck

On Wednesday 22nd July Troutbeck hosted an Hawaiian themed party for our residents. Staff dressed in grass skirts and sang and danced for our residents. Residents wore the traditional Luau flower garlands, we had tropical fruit platters, pineapple and mango cocktails and flamingo themed cake, it all made for a thoroughly enjoyable day.

New Tie Dye T-shirts

Residents at Bowerfield Court loved making tie dye t-shirts. Everyone chose their design and colours and we patiently waited a week for the dye to set. Once they were ready our laundry staff washed them and now everyone has a new colourful shirt!

Bastille Day

It was a great day of activities for Bastille day at Cavendish Court. In the morning we had lots of french toast followed by learning basic words in French and also reciting the numbers 1-20 in French.

In the afternoon we created some passports and boarding passes which residents have kept for future travels at Cavendish court, we finished off the day with painting by Picasso seeing if we can follow his footsteps with our unique designs.

Around the World Activities

Continuing on with our Around the World theme we celebrated Europe this week.

We had activities including making Belgian chocolates, make your own Italian pizza, French wine and cheese afternoon, Spanish tile making and European flag canvas painting.

We had a fantastic week.

Supporting Stockport Food Bank

Bowerfield Court are delighted to be supporting Stockport Foodbank.

“Stockport Foodbank are very grateful to those in our community who decide to help us in so many differing ways from food collections to fundraising, from volunteering to donating of finance. We are most grateful for all the contributions we receive and can assure everyone involved that the difference being made to those who are facing ‘tough times’ is considerable.”

World Chocolate Day

It was World Chocolate Day and we indulged in over twenty different varieties of chocolate tasting, served with a mixture of herbal teas. Residents loved the social afternoon and the theme linked songs and some requests along the way. A great afternoon for all.

Live Entertainment at Troutbeck

Lovely afternoon at Troutbeck when two fabulous ladies played some wonderful tunes. Enjoyed by our residents despite the impending rain- thank you for visiting and playing in the garden.

Dough Craft

Residents at Heeley Bank have been involved in dough craft. We thought it would be a great activity for everyone to get involved with. The residents like making things, they have made the dough themselves, it is very simple to make using just flour, salt and water mixed together well to make a thick dough ready for shaping and moulding.

Modelling with Saltdough

Fantastic time this afternoon modelling with saltdough at Heeley Bank. Wonderful bright colours and lots of enthusiasm from our resident artists.

Origami at Heeley Bank

The residents of Heeley Bank Care Home were treated to an interesting insight into the ancient art of origami as part of their activity planner.

Residents enjoyed learning about the traditional Japanese art of paper folding with many of them creating simple yet lovely origami birds and hearts.
