Carnival at Willow Bank

The residents at Willow Bank recently enjoyed a Caribbean and Indian Food Carnival. In preparation for the Carnival the residents made decorations and masks to wear. On the evening they enjoyed delicious food thanks to our wonderful kitchen staff, listened to Indian music and watched a colourful carnival on YouTube. The residents said they had a fantastic evening and were full of praise for the chef.

Garden at Croft House

Our green fingered residents had fun planting herbs, cauliflowers and spring onions in one box and pumpkin seeds in the other.

We have some very keen gardeners at Croft House  and we have previously grown our own potatoes and we all enjoyed them. Our pumpkins are coming along lovely.

Pen Pals Near & Far at Acorn House

Acorn House have recently been asked to join a group called elderly friends. They received their first package from them last week, which the residents really appreciated. In the parcel was a jigsaw puzzle, a pack of playing cards and a colouring book and pens and also lots of hand written cards and messages from people in our local community.

Love is in the air at Willowdene Care Home.

When Anne separated from her husband 13 years ago, she never thought she’d find love again, that was until she moved into Willowdene Care Home in July 2019 and met Gerry.  Anne who is due to turn 78 at the end of September met Gerry, 82, when she moved into the home and the pair became firm friends. They enjoyed spending time with each other, laughing and taking part in the activities at the home and discovered they liked similar music and puzzles. In March, on Gerry’s birthday, Anne realised she thought more of Gerry than just a friend and the feeling was mutual.

Art at Belvoir Vale

We did a repeat of an activity for the first time this week, but they looked so beautiful the first time around I thought we needed some more! They really brighten up the home and everyone enjoys looking at them. We've also tailored some of the pictures we're using to the residents to try and make it a bit more personal!

VE Day Celebrations

Water Royd Care Home was decorated in flags and bunting to create a street party feel when everyone in the home gathered together to celebrate 70 years since the end of the Second World War in Europe.

Many of the people living in the home were able to share their own vivid memories of VE day with staff, including the many street parties there were held to celebrate the end of the war throughout the country.

Sensory room at Croft House

Our lovely sensory room on EMI is massively popular with our residents (pictures don't do it justice!) They love to sit and watch the lights while listening to soothing, relaxing music, sometimes even falling asleep!

Pimp My Zimmer

At Brunel House we have spent time personalising some of the items we use daily such as tray tables and zimmer frames.  Our residents have chatted about their interests and then used this inspiration to personalise or "pimp their zimmer frames".

Research has shown that residents are able to more easily identify their own frame and it also helps to reduce the risk of falls.

Personalising Tables at Brunel House

Some of our residents are very creative and during a craft session we decided to personalise tray tables with positive images that bring happiness.

Pamper Day at Croft House

Here at Croft House we had a bit of a pamper day on nursing yesterday, most just wanted them filing but this one lovely lady wanted the full works! She chose this lovely pink and was over the moon with how pretty she felt and commented on what a lovely feeling it gave her. We all look forward to our next pamper session.
