Baking at Allingham House

Here at Allingham House we have had a very busy week. The residents were baking on Thursday and they really enjoyed it. After the buns were cooked they iced the and added decorations. It was decided the most fun was eating them!

Allingham House Letters

At Allingham House they have a nursery next door, Bright Horizons. The children from the nursery have responded to the cards that the residents sent to them telling them how much they miss their visits. They used to visit us once a month, but as you know the visits have been cancelled until further notice, although we are keeping in contact by arranging a Skype call so residents and children could see each other again.

Ice Cream Van at Manorhey

Residents and staff at Manorhey, designed and made our very own ice cream van, which was then filled with a variety of different flavours cones  and toppings. We supervised the ice cream  van on the each floor, whilst playing the traditional ice cream tune around the building which caught the residents attention and encouraged them to come up to the van and choose their very own favourite ice cream to enjoy.

Christopher’s Birthday and Illumination Switch On

At Amber Court we recently celebrated Christopher’s 29th birthday and combined it with our very own Blackpool Illuminations Switch-on party.  Lunch was themed as Christopher’s favourite food - McDonalds and one of our chef’s made a McDonalds themed birthday cake.

Pumpkins at Clumber Court

We have had an afternoon of pumpkin painting, using a variety of different mediums. The residents found the pumpkins very interesting and didn't stop at just one because they enjoyed so much. We also sang along to the music as we created beautiful art work.

Salon open at Clumber Court

On escorting to the salon our residents are made to feel comfortable whilst having there hair done and listening to relaxing music. Each residents is given the opportunity to choose how they would like there styled. It gives each resident the freedom of choice and a time to chat and enjoy being pampered.

Coffee Morning

Even though it wasnt the same without any visitors, we had a great coffee morning. We ate cake and had coffee, had a good chat and played some games (which to me, is what a coffee morning is all about right?) We are really looking forward to having normal events again one day, but for now we will adapt and still go ahead with them, just in a slightly different way. We will continue to try and keep as close to normality as possible for the sake of the residents, but we look forward to sending everyone updates!
