100th Birthday celebration
We celebrated a special birthday this month, one of the lovely ladies that lives with us turned 100.
We decorated the home for her so that she could celebrate in style. She had a wonderful party with her family and even received a special card from the King!
It is such a privilege to share such important celebrations with the people that live with us and their families. We always have a great time and put big smiles on everyone's faces.
Abingdon Court introduces More… Moments
Last week, we introduced More… Moments to our home!
Every day, our fantastic family of staff bend over backwards to create meaningful moments with those living here - this attitude is integral to creating a homely environment, of which we are very proud of here at Abingdon Court!
Abingdon Court's Poetry collection
Every week in our poetry club, those living with us collectively write a poem. This is based on an idea or theme of the poems which we read aloud together. We thought these poem needed a home, so we’ve created this album to store them week by week. Check out what we have so far!
Birthday and St. Patrick's Day celebrations
Today we celebrated one of our gentleman's birthdays and St Patrick's Day in one. We threw a birthday/St Patrick's day party for all of the people living with us. For the celebration we wore Irish hats. Everyone joined in on the fun and looked lovely!
Guinea Pig visit to The Hawthorns
The people living with us at The Hawthorns had a special visit this week from some furry friends.
Everyone living with us got to cuddle and feed the Guinea Pigs, especially as they visited everyone's rooms for people who may struggle to get out of bed.
The people that live with us had a great time with the animals, and very much look forward to them coming again.
Big Musical Pass the Parcel
At Abingdon Court we unleashed our inner child with a ‘Big Musical Pass the Parcel’ organised by Veronica, one of the lovely ladies who lives with us.
It’s so important that those living here are involved in the development of the activities programme, making sure we are delivering the things that they want to see and do throughout the week.
Veronica loved putting together this activity with the help of the Lifestyle team, bringing everyone together.
Happy St. David's Day at Abingdon Court
“Dydd Gŵyl Dewi Hapus”
Happy St David’s Day from our clan to yours! We hope you celebrated in style like we did.
The people living with us enjoyed a tasty Welsh dinner -homemade Welsh Rarebit and delicious Welsh cakes.
Everyone had a fantastic day.
St David's Day Baking
We’re kicking off St David’s Day in the best way we know how - getting the Welsh Cakes on the griddle!
From Aberystwyth to Caerphilly, down to Pernath, and back up to Colwyn Bay — many of those that live with us have proud Welsh heritage, and these cakes were a staple in their family homes.
Putting all our heads together, we managed to pull off a successful batch of cakes, ready for our party this afternoon. We got the seal of approval, although no one can do it quite like mother!

Raising money for Anglia Air Ambulance
On 1st February, the people that live with us made a Valentines Day Hamper which we sold raffle tickets for.
We managed to raise an amazing £150 which the residents wanted to donate to Anglia Air Ambulance.
We had Julie Come in to collect the cheque, and we celebrated with refreshments and lovely cupcakes which they all enjoyed.
Pancake Day
The people with us at Belmont House love Pancake Day and taking turns trying their hand on tossing the pancakes around each unit.
This generated so many laughs as pancakes either didn’t flip, they fell on the floor or lap of the resident. We were delighted when our kitchen team made us pancakes for tea.
