Bonfire Night at Ashfield Court

We had a lovely night celebrating Bonfire Night at Ashfield Court last week enjoying a little tipple with our own Guy Fawkes effigy. We had a lovely time reminiscing about Fireworks nights gone by and the fun we had as kids and also taking our families to the local Bonfire night displays

High Tea

We indulged in high tea today enjoying our chefs amazing baking skills, we enjoyed cinnamon cake with a cream cheese frosting thoroughly enjoyed by all.

Troutbeck's Visiting Pod

Troutbeck Care Home is constructing a specially designed visitor pod to enable safe and comfortable visits for both residents and families. This will be an addition to our existing virtual and window visits that are already in place. The pod shell is up and plastered and just needs decoration which staff and residents are discussing - lots of exciting ideas. Families will use an appointment system to book a pod visit ensuring a member of the care team is always on hand to support where required.

Cavendish Court's Shop

As our residents are unable to make it to the shops we brought the shops to them! Our residents were able to choose their toiletries, snacks and magazines all complimentary of the home. It was received with joy as residents were able to browse through the selections and choose their favourite chocolate bar!

Staying Positive at White Rose Lodge

With Christmas time fast approaching, residents and staff a like can't wait for some jolly time.

White Rose Lodge like many other homes have put up the decorations early, following the government guidelines. This year has been hard for us all, staff, residents, and families,

Residents have been very strong and acknowledged this hard time and made all the effort to be creative, active, and positive. Supporting one another by spending time together and continuing to smile.

A Tour Of Ireland

Residents at The Westbourne celebrated their theme for November with A Tour Of Ireland which included watching riverdance performers, singing and even some dancing by the staff. It was great to see some of the men joining in with the celebrations, chatting together and tapping their feet to the music.

Fall Prevention

This week at Carmel Lodge our residents have been engaging in a variety of different 'fall prevention' activities and exercises. Mary enjoyed decorating her frame with a pink floral theme as Mary had worked very closely with the local church and used to be head of flower arranging. Hopefully, this will prompt Mary to use her frame, decorating it meaningful to her. Whereas Ann enjoyed an autumnal walk helping to improve her muscle strength and balance reducing her risk of falls.

Christmas card crafts

Residents have been getting crafty Christmas style, making some beautiful Christmas cards for loved ones.  The amount of creativity we see is just wonderful, great fun and of course getting us in the moos for the festivities that are to come.

Pub night!

We had a lovely evening hosting a pub themed evening for our residents, by turning our bistro into 'The Wharf Inn'. Beers, wine, G&T's or a tipple of choice with a pub food for dinner followed by games of dominoes and cards. They had such a fun evening, so much so we have left our bar just how it was so it can be enjoyed at our residents' leisure.

Science At Brunel House

Science experiments today with orange volcanoes and the residents had great fun.

You slice a large orange in half, remove the centre and put baking powder and food colouring (optional) in to the orange and add white vinegar and watch the magic.
