Getting to know you with Katy
This month we welcomed Katy to the home as an Activity Coordinator and we wanted her to feel welcome. Therefore we created activities that enabled both Katy to get to know our residents but also for our residents to get to know Katy.

Knit and Natter Session
There has been lots of hard work at Acorn House with our 'Knit and Natter' session. We had plenty of cups of teas to keep us going, as the ladies added the finishing touches to our blanket and finally got it sewn together. Now for our next project!

Resident's 103rd Birthday
Staff and residents had a huge celebration, one of our residents turned 103! A beautiful cake was made for everyone to enjoy.

Visitor Pod
At Acorn House they have been blessed to have had a new visiting pod built. All the materials were donated and a kind local joiner form the Blackburn area built it for free. All they wanted was cups of teas and biscuits! A huge shout out of thanks to the gents from AG joinery!

Salvation Army Food Donation
Such a loving atmosphere in Skell Lodge today, whilst our residents packed food hampers to donate to the Salvation Army. Such a good cause.

Christmas Activities
The residents at Allingham House enjoyed many Christmas activities last week. We started the week creating beautiful Christmas Cards, that were displayed around the home as part of the Christmas decorations and then we had a session of baking Christmas biscuits, with different kind of shapes like stars and snowmen. The residents really enjoyed reminiscing about their favourites Christmas recipes and sweets, like mince pies, gingerbread or Christmas pudding.

Hearts for Schools Project
The residents at Allingham House have got involved in the project ‘Hearts for Schools’ last week. In this project residents from care homes write messages to children from nurseries and schools close to them. In our case, the children from the nursery next door invited us to join them from our garden. The children introduced themselves to the residents and after that we were singing nursery songs together like Twinkle Twinkle Little Star or Insy Winsy Spider. The children and the residents really enjoyed the session.
