Valentine's Celebration's

Lovely day had by residents and staff.

Chinese New Year

We celebrated Chinese New Year with homemade Chinese food and we listened to oriental music and discussed our Chinese zodiac animal. We discussed that the Chinese New Year is in February to celebrate the New Moon.

Valentine's Day

We celebrated Valentine's Day with chocolates! All the residents received some chocolates and we all talked about what love meant to us from a warm fuzzy feeling inside to being warmed and cared for!

We all decided we love our families and miss them very much.

Chinese New Year

We celebrated Chinese New Year with Chinese food and origami crafts, we also wrote residents names in Chinese.

Try a Brew

We wanted to try something a little different during our Tea tasting sessions and sourced a selection of herbal teas for the residents to try.  The residents then scored points out of 10 to which they preferred.  The best loved teas have been purchased and added on our tea trollies to enjoy at any moment . Such a small change but a positive change for the residents.

Tai Chi

Residents are enjoying the return of tai chi with Morag from health and wellness via zoom.  We so missed our Tai Chi during lockdown that we were delighted when Morag was able to do this via Zoom.  Everyone had a fantastic time and were so happy to see Morag again.

Snowmen at Park Springs

We have had a very snowy week in February in Park Springs so we thought we'd have some fun in the snow.  We were all extremely brave and went outside in the snow on Thursday 11th February and we had so much fun despite the cold, building our snowmen.  We then moved them to the front of the home so that everyone could see them and it brought lots of smiles.

Valentines Day at Oaklands

We have welcomed a new member of the team to our Oakland’s family, Mickey Sewell has been a chef in the Army for twenty five years before joining us at Oakland's.

On Valentine’s Day we brought a bit of fine dining to our Oakland’s residents. Everyone dressed in either red or pink for the event.

The first course for the residents to enjoy was Chicken Roulade with straw carrots, ribbon courgettes and duchess potatoes.

The second course for dessert was a chocolate fondant pudding with baileys ice cream.
