Week of arts at Bowerfield Court

We are delighted to share that at Bowerfield Court we have started to celebrate "Week of Arts" by hosting our very own arts exhibition! Today we had 6 beautiful pictures on display which were painted by Gordon Andrew Partt, born in 1928 started life by joining the navy and after 4 years started working at a men's clothing firm where he met his beloved wife Barbara. In his retirement years he enjoyed painting as a hobby and that's how today we get to appreciate his amazing work and love for Arts.

Slough in Bloom Competition Winners

After months of planting, watering regularly and keeping an eye on the garden, Windmill has won this year's Slough in Bloom Competition. We thank James, our maintenance, with the help of some of our residents who love gardening for making this possible. Our garden has become a place where all of our residents like to spend their time, and all of us have made some fond memories together.

Dussindale's 3 peak challenge

We survived! Here are just a handful of pictures taken of the Dussindale team at the top of the 3 peaks, along with our driver as without him it would not of been possible.

I just want to say thank you to those who have sponsored the team and the 2 chosen charities. Alzheimer society and Jenny Lind hospital.

We have smashed our target set collectively and for that we are really grateful.

It is not too late to sponsor if you wish, we will close the link at the end of next week:

Bowerfield's summer fair

Bowerfield Court and Bowerfield House would like to thank everyone who made part of this amazing event, our residents who made crafts and helped to decorate our home, relatives, and staff for all the donations for our tombolas and raffles, as well as the community! We raised a total of £667.64 which will go towards our outings and trips.

Abingdon's Wishes

A wish is normally a strong desire or hope for something that probably will not happen but here at Abingdon Court we believe in making wishes come true. 😃

Those that live with us have been thinking long and hard about what they wish they could either do again or do for the first time. I think you would agree there's some wonderfully exciting things and it really gets you thinking of your own hopes and dreams. 🤔

Watch this space as the Fairy Godmother of Abingdon Court gets to work one wish at a time!

The Music man visited Abingdon Court

The Sun had his hat on here at Abingdon Court as we welcomed Laurence The Music Man.

Laurence had us all dancing whether it was on our feet, in our chairs or waving our flags in the air. His song choices were full of memories as we sang along to our favourites. 🕺

For those living with Dementia engaging in music helps develop and maintain relationships with others and improves wellbeing. It can also help in expressing feelings as well as acting as a prompt for reminiscing.

More...Rhythm at Abingdon Court

"Where words fail, music speaks" - Hans Christian Andersen

Here at Abingdon Court we all love to enjoy the benefits of More... Rhythm! 🎼

We recently enjoyed a concert sung by our talented Lifestyle Assistant Katalin which as you can see was huge hit!

Music evokes memories and emotions. It can take us back down memory lane, like the first time we danced with someone, a child's first steps, a family celebration, or other significant life events.

Canal walks

Some of the people living with us at Bowerfield Court had a lovely day out visiting the Canal. They were able to watch the boats and the locals doing some fishing! Then we stopped off at the Red Lion to have a refreshing drink in the sunshine on our way back home.

Ashmead's card from the King and Queen

The Coronation was a very big day for all of us at Ashmead, both staff and residents alike. We wanted to express our excitement and well wishes to King Charles and Queen Camilla so staff and residents got very creative and made a card to send to their majesties. The card was filled with wishes along with a letter from all of us at Ashmead wishing their majesties all the very best. It was a very pleasant surprise for us all when we received a response from their majesties appreciating the card we sent.
