Cavendish Court's Care Awards

At Cavendish Court we enjoyed celebrating the success of our colleagues in the care awards. Lindsay our previous deputy was unfortunately not an award winner but she is a winner in our eyes! All our staff at Cavendish Court are hero's so we had a cheeky awards ceremony of our own, staff winning such awards as best tea maker and most positive. Vicky our Care Practitioner made some amazing cupcakes. We all had a great day celebrating some amazing people!

National Recycle Week

We know how important is recycling to conserve our natural resources, and for that reason the residents joined to the National Recycle Week. The residents let their imagination run free, creating beautiful flower vases from used glass bottles.

Scrabble

Ashfield Court really enjoyed a game of scrabble before lunch last week.

Marie's 90th Birthday

We celebrated Marie's 90th birthday here at Cavendish Court, she really enjoyed her homemade cake.

Worker Bee Of The Month

Congratulations to Katie and Misha for winning worker bee of the month in October!

They both said the vouchers will help towards Christmas!

Well done and keep up the good work!

Pumpkin Carving

Meet Salem, Archie, Charlie, Bernard, Pedro, Jodie and Casper. We joined our lovely residents in some pumpkin carving activities last week and what a lot of fun we had. Annette gave them all names and helped create our pumpkin display for the lounge. We look forward to creating some more spooky creations this week.

Room with a View

Wyndham Hall were very generously gifted £2,500 for some art work within the home and after much deliberation we opted for Charlotte Designs and artist  Sarah Hodgkins produced this beautiful mural in an open area on our specialist dementia wing.

As you can see the area is put to good use and we all really enjoy the beautiful artwork, especially the seagull with a chip in its beak.

A huge thank you to Cherwell Valley District Council and Sarah Hodgkins for this beautiful gift.

Macmillan Fundraiser at River View

September 24th the sun was shining as it was Macmillan Cancer Support Fundraiser Coffee Afternoon.

We had a fabulous raffle with gifts donated by River View and local businesses – thank you. Thank you to everyone who took part. We raised a cracking £152.00.

Our residents were our prize pullers making 12 people very happy winners.

Entertainer Brian was invited to join us with his guitar playing songs we could all sing along to. Many residents also joined in with some dancing.

Animal Charades!

To celebrate National Animal Day, we decided to play some animal themed games! We started with a round of Animal Bingo, using the 'Relish' resources which provide the picture boards and animal sound CD - the aim is to guess the sound the animal is making and mark it off of your bingo card when necessary. Many enjoyed this twist on the usual bingo.

Christchurch Service

We are fortunate enough to have an ongoing relationship with 'Christchurch Abingdon'. Before COVID-19 put us into lockdown, we had regular visits from the group who enjoyed meeting and greeting those who live here and putting on a short service with hymns, readings, and prayers. When we had to close our doors due to lockdown, Christchurch were excellent and sent us recorded services so we could keep offering this experience to those who like to attended - we were, and still are very grateful for this!
