
Pen Pals
One of our sister homes were looking for pen-pals and never one to miss an opportunity for our residents we took up the challenge. We spent a lovely morning creating some cards for posting to our new contacts and pen pals and we can’t wait to hear back from them.

Raising Money For Charity
Victorious at Strathclyde park as we completed a successful fun day raising money for charity and giving back to our community. How lucky were we to get a few hours with no rain and stunning views captured at the park enjoying support from our local community cheering us on and bringing smiles to our faces. Huge thank you to everyone who came past and supported us and made our day so special .. thank you.

Pumpkin Competition at Parksprings
The winners of the Pumpkin competition was number 4 - Garrion .. the black bowler hat has changed to a witches hat .. spooky spooky. Our pumpkin hat judge presented the prizes .. congratulations to everyone who voted and created such a buzz around the home and well done Garrion for your amazing pumpkin.

Lugar Bowling Club
Doing the things that we love the most. Thank you to Lugar bowling club for helping us support our residents to keep involved. Over seventy years membership between them and a few championship titles. New memories were made and time spent remembering the good old times.

Care Awards Winner
We celebrated the MMCG and Countrywide 7th annual care awards in September and were delighted when Glennie House was a winner. Our very own night shift carer Kimberly McCracken, won Carer of the year 2021. So unbelievably proud to have her as part of our team. Well done Kimberly.

Macmillan Coffee Morning
We celebrated a belated Macmillan Coffee morning at the Home in September raising money for this wonderful charity. We held a raffle in the home and raised £61 to this amazing cause and then enjoyed a coffee morning with the residents who enjoyed cupcakes and a little tipple. A huge thank you to residents and their families and staff for there support.

Alzheimer's Memory Walk
Well done to one of our incredible team members who took part in the Memory Walk with her daughter and family to raise money for Alzheimer's Society . They took part in the South Shields memory walk on 9th October and raised a whopping £485 for the charity. Alzheimer's Society touches many people especially our team and residents at Willowdene who are living with dementia.

Halloween at Willowdene
We celebrated Halloween at Willowdene and had lots of fun dressing up in the home. Residents and staff dressed up and had a Halloween party. We were entertained by Sam Naylor who was brilliant and enjoyed lots of sweets and cupcakes during the afternoon and a Halloween buffet for tea on the evening. A good night was had by all.

Alzheimer's Month
We celebrated Alzheimer’s month at the home in September by creating our own dragon flies and lilies. Our residents created a wonderful display of their work and to remember Alzheimer’s during the month of September.

October Sunshine
We have been making the most of the last of the sunshine in the garden in October and we had ice cream and a visit from the neighbours cat. Brenda enjoyed the feeling of grass on her feet. Fair well summer, hello to a new season with lots of fun planned.
