World Wildlife Day

The staff and residents of Clarendon Court have gone wild for World Wildlife Day, dressing as their favourite wild animal and learning a little more about them. Some very interesting facts, all helped along with our wildlife cakes baked by our very own Maria.

Pancake Day at Troutbeck

We celebrated pancake day with delicious home made pancakes, served with our favourite toppings, golden syrup was by far the top of the list followed by lemon and a sprinkle of sugar, all served with fresh fruit and cream, we chatted about the significance of Pancake day and what it actually means, we then had fun with a competition to see who could flip the most pancakes, everyone did well and thoroughly enjoyed the day.

Employee Appreciation Day

To celebrate employee appreciation day 2022 our home manager Neil Hooley treated all staff to Krispy Kreme donuts.

Cookery Club

One of our favourite and most popular events here at Abingdon Court is our cookery sessions!

We load our trolley with all of our ingredients, along with our trusty portable oven and gather to collectively create a selection of cakes.

This week we chose to make carrot cupcakes. Everybody received a copy of the recipe, which we worked thorough as a team to create a batch of delicious goodies.

Pancake Celebrations

The traditional annual Pancake Race at Brunel House, enjoyed by everyone!

St David’s Day

To celebrate St David’s Day we spent a very busy morning making Welsh Cakes/Cacennau Gri.

Whilst we mixed and rolled the cake mix, we enjoyed listening to some of our favourite Welsh artists; Tom Jones, Bryn Terfel and The 3 Welsh Tenors.

And yes, they were delicious.

Ophelia’s Vist

Some of the people living with us here at Brunel recently enjoyed a fun day in the company of 10 year old Ophelia, the daughter of one of our team members.

They played board games, musical games, did some arts and crafts and even had time for a spot of gardening.

Ophelia had a fantastic day and is very much looking forward to returning – we look forward to seeing her again soon.

Pen Pals

We had a lovely morning writing letters to our fellow Care Homes. Jane, Joan, George, Doreen and I really enjoyed this activity, we were slow to start but once we started we ended up writing a lot about us and we hope other residents will enjoy reading it and we are all looking forward to hearing back from the other Care Homes.

National Pizza Day

To celebrate National Pizza Day we made Pizzas for our evening meal from scratch. We made our pizza dough before lunch allowing it time to rest, we had talked about toppings with our residents ands whilst the pizza was resting we prepared our toppings and pizza sauce. When our Pizza base was ready to use we assembled our four pizzas and they were sent to the kitchen to bake. Our residents enjoyed it with their evening meal and have already asked when we can do it again.
