Happy St Patricks Day from Ashmead
Residents enjoyed performing the Irish Jig at Ashmead on 17th March 2022 in order to celebrate St Patrick’s Day. Residents helped prepare for the event by making their Irish hats and banners. Light refreshments, music and pleasant company all contributed to a most pleasant afternoon. David, Hospitality Manager, disregarded his Welsh background for the afternoon in order to perform some Irish dancing too!

Celebrating St Patricks Day in style
Cedar Court joined in the worldwide St Patricks Day celebrations today. We started our day with arm travel to see the splendours of Ireland. All dining rooms were decorated in the theme and John together with the kitchen team prepared a wonderful Irish Stew with sticky toffee pudding to follow. During lunch we used the shamrock medallions, which had previously been made during art and craft groups, to decorate the tables together with them being handed out to every diner for good luck.

Thank you to MK Friends Charity
The whole team and people living at Kents Hill Care Home would like to take this opportunity to thank MK Friends Charity for their generous donation.
Clare from MK Friends Charity visited us today and kindly donated a sensory cat and puppy for the home, both of which have proved to be a big hit with the people who lives with us. We are so grateful for this incredible donation and we know that our new cat and puppy are going to be well loved and looked after.

Flower arranging at Kents Hill
Despite the rainy weather outside we are all smiles at our flower arranging class. All the beautiful flower arrangements created by the people living with us will be placed on the tables in our dining rooms for everyone to admire and enjoy.

Supporting Ukraine
The people living with us and the staff at Ashmead have been most affected by the recent news from Ukraine and have all wished to play a part to help the refugees. After a brief discussion on the matter, it has been decided to create a donation box appeal in an effect to assist the affected people of all ages from Ukraine. The donation box is presently located in the reception area so that visitors also can make their donations if they wish.

Milkshake time at Ashmead
A most enjoyable afternoon for all residents was spent at Ashmead on Wednesday 15th March 2022, when members of our local NHS dietary team paid a visit. The team brought along ingredients to enable the residents to construct and taste wonderful milkshakes. The milkshakes made were Bailey’s Frappuccino, Fruit Milkshake, Dairy Free Fruit Burst Milkshake and Mango and Yoghurt Milkshake. Appropriate music and light costumes helped make this afternoon not only an adventure but also educational as the team explained the nutritional benefits from such milkshakes.

Painting at Cedar Court
Our popular arts and craft group enjoyed their painting activity and produced some extremely wonderful art. Using acrylic paint, we created a sea scene which all the people living at the home were so proud of they couldn't wait to display them in their bedrooms.
Carnival Party
For the second consecutive year the residents enjoyed a Carnival Party at Allingham House. The residents started the week making and displaying colourful decorations all around our home, creating the perfect space to celebrate this festive day. When the big Day arrived, the residents and staff enjoyed singing and dancing while they were wearing their beautiful masks. I would like to thank specially to the kitchen staff, they provided delicious sandwiches and drinks to make this day completely memorable.

International Woman's Day at Ashfield
We celebrated International Woman's Day at Ashfield Court by having a talk on Emily Pankhurst and the residents shared views on how things were so different then and how she changed everything for women all them years ago! Plus lots of cups of tea and fresh cinnamon swirls. It was a great morning. Happy International Woman's Day
