National Bake Week

We are celebrating National Bake Week from today, Monday 4th April for the next 7 days and we would like to take this opportunity and introduce our Baking Queen Lisa.  Lisa always does her best to surprise us with her delicious baking creations. And of course, this week is no different with this beautiful walnut cake for all of us to enjoy!

Bingo Time

Bingo is a very competitive game here at Kents Hill. It’s a must have weekly game and we get very competitive as the rewards are very sweet. We watch our cards closely and listen out for the numbers and clap for whoever gets the line

Sensory Activity

We enjoyed a different style of exercise Friday morning, we used some sensory fidget toys called pop tubes that are great for arm exercises as well as a lot of fun to play with. We also had a roll of large bubble wrap that we really had great fun popping, popping bubble wrap is a repetitive sensory activity that is meant to use multiple senses and watching them take part in this activity showed that sometimes it only takes something small and silly for us to have the most fun. We will definitely be doing this again and trying different size bubbles.

Chip Butty Challenge

The Belvedere took part in our regional chip butty competition this week. We started off asking our residents what sort of bread they would like to have, what size chip should be on the butty, would we dress our chips in salt and vinegar, what sauces should we put on the side and finally what drink should accompany our chip butty.

Gardening club

Our first efforts by our gardening club have taken root! Our residents have been keeping a close eye and our seed tray are germinating. So far we have strawberries, tomatoes, nasturtium, pansy, alyssum and marigolds. Everyone is looking forward to warmer weather so we can make our outdoor space beautiful.

Mothers Day

All the resident, visitor and staff mothers were spoilt at Ashmead on Mother’s Day on 27th March 22. David, Hospitality Manager and Ann, Lifestyle Co – Ordinator, toured the units at Ashmead with a decorated trolley armed with homemade Mother’s Day cards, Homemade cup cakes and roses for all the mums. In addition, an alexa was also used so that all the mums could request their favourite music. A special occasion for all present.”

Fun In The Sun

Our residents began preparing for summer today! It was a lovely bright and warm day so we pulled out the spf 50 sunscreen and soaked up the rays. Out came the seed trays and we enjoyed an afternoon of sunbathing and planting seeds for the garden. So far we have tomatoes, strawberries, nasturtium, marigolds, morning glories and a few others. Fingers crossed for a warm and sunny season.

Mothers day celebrations at Troutbeck

We started the morning with a selection of beautiful hymns to sing along to, in the afternoon we talked about special memories with our Mothers and then of becoming Mothers ourselves. We read poetry and ate delicious cupcakes with fresh fruits, we had lovely chocolates, and flowers were being delivered throughout the day, we had a wonderful day full of fun memories.
