Carnival Time...
With the sun shining we wanted to celebrate the summer by hosting our own carnival complete with steel band. It was such a lovely afternoon which was thoroughly enjoyed by all.
Parklife Aylesbury
A team from Chartwell Manor Care Home joined the community of Aylesbury on Saturday 27th August for Parklife, a free annual event hosted and organised by Aylesbury Town Council. We held a traditional tombola and raised £100 for Emmett’s Genies, one of Aylesbury Town Mayor, Cllr Tim Dixon’s, chosen charities. Emmett’s Genies is a small, local charity, set up following Emmett’s cancer diagnosis at the age of 2 ½ years. The main aim of the charity is to raise enough funds to build a centre in the UK, similar to the one Emmett visited in America funded by Make
Happy Birthday Hilda
Earlier this week we were very lucky to celebrate a very special birthday with our lovely resident Hilda who turned 102! We all would like to wish a very happy birthday to Hilda!
Welcome to the Team
We would all like to say a huge welcome to Simona, our new nurse completed her probation today. Another successful addition to Kingsbury team.
Create your own fat balls...
This morning our residents made fat balls with bird seed and nuts and mixed it up with lard to make bird feeders for our gardens. Later we took the fat balls outside to put in the bird feeders. The residents really enjoyed the activity; it triggered lots of lovely memories when the residents spent time in their own gardens.
Happy Hour
Every Wednesday we have our happy hour where there is a choice of alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks offered to all of our residents.
Surprise Afternoon Tea
Some friends of one of our residents asked if they could come and visit her as a surprise so our amazing catering manager Tracey decided it would be a lovely idea to provide everyone with a beautiful tasty afternoon tea. Thank you Tracey and our hospitality team, always going above and beyond for our lovely residents.
Wine and Cheese Afternoon
The people living at Brunel wanted to have a wine and cheese tasting evening. The lifestyle team were only too happy to create a platters with a range of cheeses from Mild cheddar to the stronger cheeses like Stilton.
It was a lovely afternoon and everyone really enjoy the selections that we had, there was lots of conversation and reminiscence around cheese which was really lovely. The cheese was also paired with a selection of wines to choose from.
Visit from Harpist
We were so pleased to have been visited by a local harpist to play for the people at the home. Everyone really enjoyed listening to the beautiful tones and familiar songs.
Platinum Anniversary Celebration
Its not everyday that you get to celebrate a Platinum wedding anniversary, 70 years being married is such an achievement. Living at the home, the couple wanted to celebrate the day with their friends and family so we created a space for them to enjoy the special day together. There was food, refreshments and of course a cake for them to cut together. It was a fantastic day that was enjoyed by all who attended. Many congratulations to them both.
