Remembrance Day

Remembrance day is a very important event for many of the residents at Abingdon Court. Therefore the activities team, Kirsty and Mona ensured the activities were relevant to the day.  Residents created their own poppies which they then wore on remembrance day.  On the day itself, the residents watched the day's services which were moving but also heart warming.

Among the residents are many veterans for whom remembrance day was very important and so the day was filled with services, poem readings, quizzes and sing along.

Bonfire Night

Unfortunately due to the current conditions, like many people, the residents were not able to go to a fire work display this year and so the activity team brought the fireworks display to them.

Halloween at Abingdon Court

During Halloween week the activities coordinators provided the residents with various Halloween inspired activities, such as pumpkin decorating, and even a Halloween themed bingo, which the residents really enjoyed it.

There was a Halloween party and where the staff dressed in fancy dress and took party in the Halloween party games including using props for residents for pictures. The usual sweets and treats trolley was Halloween themed and became a "Trick or Treat" activity.

International Men's Day

For International Men's Day today we very much recognised and celebrated the men of our home. They thoroughly enjoyed pints of beer, pork pies coupled with branston pickle and games of scrabble.

Gift From Stockport Council

This week, we were kindly gifted a bunch of beautiful flowers and chocolates, along with a thank you letter from Stockport Council as a reward for all the hard work the staff have done in this difficult time. Thank you Stockport Council! And a big thank you to all our hard working staff in all our homes working extra hard through this lockdown. You're all amazing!

Children In Need

Bowerfield Court recently took part in a pyjama day in aid of Children in Need! Staff and residents wore their pyjamas for the day and raised money. We wish we could wear pyjamas every day!

Christina had her nails painted to support Children in Need. She picked the design herself and absolutely loved them!

Spooktacular Celebrations

Everyone at Coplands enjoyed our Halloween celebrations with some amazing costumes and decorations on show throughout our home.

We enjoyed some Halloween themed games and lots of scarey snacks to finish off the afternoon activities -  a really spooktacular day!

Sweetie Hamper

We had a lovely surprise today, a beautiful sweetie hamper was delivered from one of our lovely families to say thank you to our team at Troutbeck. A massive thank you for thinking of us. Staff and residents will really enjoy digging into this smashing sweetie selection - Team Troutbeck.

All staff donned a moustache for Movember to show their support and raise awareness for men's health issues. Quite a few laughs were raised too!
