International Nurses Day at Woodland
The people living with us enjoyed making cards to give to our Nurses on International Nurses Day.
To celebrate the day, we had a lovely party, buffet and refreshments. Everyone had a brilliant time.
A Coronation Tea Party
The people living with us enjoyed a fantastic tea party to celebrate The King's Coronation.
We had a buffet and had a drink of Baileys and Buck Fizz to celebrate the day. The people living with us had a good sing song and said that they had a lovely time. They asked if we could do this every week!
The people living with us were also given a present to celebrate The Coronation.
The King's Coronation at Woodland Care Home
To celebrate The King's Coronation over the weekend, we had a three day event.
We had a buffet on the Saturday, a big party all day on the Sunday and a Royal party on the Monday. We had live music, a raffle, a BBQ and lots of cake. We also had our own Gold Carriage to take photos in. As well, our Woodland Mascot came to visit and we raised some money for charity.

Sing Along Fridays
As Madonna once said, music makes the people come together - we prove that statement true here at Abingdon Court 🎤
Whilst we inject music into as much of our daily lives as possible, our week wouldn’t be complete without our ✨Sing Along Fridays✨ where those who live here choose their favourite songs, which we all sing together!
There is never a dull day here at Abingdon Court!

More Movement sessions
When we're dancing, we're ✨smiling✨
Exercise increases your overall health and your sense of well-being, which puts more pep in your step every day. But exercise also has some direct stress-busting benefits. It pumps up your endorphins, making us happier and healthier!
Check us out in our weekly ✨More... Movement✨ sessions where we play our favourite tunes to get our bodies moving 💪
It's more than just movement 🎉

World Heritage Day
Last week, we honoured World Heritage Day in our Art Club 🎨
Choosing Stonehenge as our inspiration, we used paints and cut outs to build our own Stonehenge landscapes!
Work began on Stonehenge about 5,000 years ago, but it was built in stages over many years. The stone circle dates from about 2500 BC, in the late Neolithic period
Did you know, every year, the people who maintain Stonehenge have to move the stones a few inches to the north? This realignment is necessary to ensure that the sun rises in line with the stones at least once a year.

Abingdon Court's Coronation decorations
The King's coronation is a momentous occasion that calls for the utmost attention to detail when it comes to decoration and preparation. This event marks the beginning of a new era in the kingdom, and it is important to create an atmosphere that is both regal and celebratory 🎉👑
Rich shades of gold, burgundy, and royal blue are all popular choices for royal events, and can be used in everything from the drapes and tablecloths to the floral arrangements and centrepieces - we are even creating nail art inspired by the occasion!

Abingdon Court's poem for the King
The power of poetry truly knows no bounds... 📝
As we gear up for the Kings Coronation this weekend, we were inspired to put pen to paper and write some poetry! 💬
We have found that poetry can be used as a tool for social engagement and community building. Poetry and reading groups can provide a shared experience for those living here, fostering a sense of connection and belonging 🙏🏻
The Kings Coronation Party
The Hawthorns have been getting very prepared for the King's Coronation.
They made their own decorations and hung these around the home. They then watched some live entertainment which was very fun.
King's Coronation Indoor Street Party
The Hawthorns held a brilliant indoor street party for the people living with us.
Everyone enjoyed a traditional English Buffet with a beautiful cake that our chefs made.
